How much do you charge to host ads on your site?

Hi,

I just had an email from someone looking to place a 'text based ad' on my site and i'm quite interested as long as it's not too obtrusive. The page they're interested in is PR1 but I have no idea how any of this works, what is a reasonable price for this service?

They've offered $50 a year and a one off $10 payment, is that the going rate? Too high? Too low?

Also, does anyone have any other good advice about the process of selling links?

French clothing manufacturer approached me a few days ago and wanted prices on adding a 160x600 banner on one of my blogs.
I quoted $15PM and they replied with a yes within 10mins ... I should have asked for more

They provide the banner and provide instructions how to add it via their own plugin .. quite a professional setup. They provide a private login to their site and a cpanel for various downloads.
Their banner can only be seen via this link and won't be active until they approve the placement.

Sorry, but this is a scam. DO NOT open or install the plugin!

Here's a discussion of the issue:
