Any tips on video marketing?

Hello everyone!

I'm just starting a website and I'm going to sell video tutorials either pay per view or selling membership (with WP S2member).
The videos would be first a demo (free), and then a tutorial (product).
Would anyone have tips either to syndicate the videos, or any WP plugins that could help with the pay per view part? (not necessarily a plugin for that matter)

Any help would be appreciated.

Pay per view can be a tough thing to do with just plugins. You may want to try easy video player with some kind of payment processing.

Also there are some 3rd party pay per view video companies you could partner with.

That is what I was thinking too.

You can do a teaser of the video with EVP -and a button can pop up to require payment to see the rest of the video.

Mix that with a pay per view plugin - there are a couple on the market when I just looked.

I'm sure there is a free work around but may take a few days of experimentation to figure that one out.

Hey there....I'm in the same sort of area as you at the moment only I am developing my own site first while learning to create a membership site via video subscription. There are over 600 videos on customizing WordPress as well as a series on creating a membership site. Some free and others as you want to do, available after becoming a member of the site. If you want you can check my latest post and see the results I'm getting.

    onlinevideomarketing.ws/2011/08/03/more-on-kinetic-typography/

I am an affiliate for the subscription site and have been averaging $90-120 a month from this blog alone as part of my income stream. It's fed from Facebook, YouTube and another site I have.

I wish you success as I know how much work this can be and how much time needs to be put in if your trying to go it alone. Paying somebody else to build a site is not an option for me.

Upload your videos to youtube, and make them rentable.

YouTube Rentals Beta (US Only) - YouTube

Rentable videos on youtube is in beta, and you have to apply to the program.

That is good to know and looks interesting. I'm just wondering what cut youtube wants from each video you sell this way.

It also appears you need to be approved for the partner program? That is going to kill it for a lot of people if that is the case.

Yes, youtube manually reviews your profile and videos, and then approves or disapproves your partner account.

Manual review and approval stops spammers and helps ensure the quality of the channel.

I understand that. But what if this guy is new to youtube? He will not get accepted into that partnership program.

All he is looking to do is sell access to individual videos or posts.

          • Set up a payment gate that will allow you to charge for any part of the website you want.

Bill Myers has an excellent free software that does what you want. You can check it out here:

You do have to be a member of his site to acquire the free software, but you do not have to remain a member in order to continue to use it.

In terms of ranking your videos, you need to embed them onto a site and then promote that site, instead of just promoting the actual video url.

I suggest you start with membership first. Your website has to be popular enough for PPV or youtube programs.

I recently bought membership cube program and I am going thru the audios and videos. I am thinking of membership site and wanted to know how to manage payments. It seems paypal can also be used for monthly payments collection. Other sites are amember and 1shopping cart.

Totally agree with you about building the site first. Exactly what I am doing while developing credibility among the social media networks first. But the part about Paypal. They have radically changed their policies of late and many have had their accounts suspended for even looking like they are internet marketers. Some suspensions froze accounts for 6 months with thousands of dollars in them. I would research alternatives such as AlertPay

The seemingly sensible option to me is start with a complete membership plugin that actually handles secure PPV and membership based access, rather than hacking together things that do bits of what you want.

That way you control everything. Just upload the videos to S3 or CloudFront, choose your payment gateway, set up some membership levels or PPV prices and off you go (oh and as an added bonus, you can now view/sell them in facebook too).

PPV with the right membership plugin is trivial!

Although Amazon S3 is great and is one way you can go, there are other options (free) that you may wish to use. I would simply use YouTube. I'd upload videos, make them unlisted, and then embed them on a hidden page on Wordpress. Your members would have access to the hidden URL. Also, since they are on YouTube, the hosting is done by them, which means you don't have to pay.

The title of your post mentions video marketing but the actual post doesn't say too much about it. Are you trying to use video marketing to promote these as well? If that's the case, you should absolutely used YouTube. S3 won't help you market as well as YouTube will. Also, S3 can't be seen on all mobile devices, so be careful if you go that route.

S3 is just a delivery system, what devices it can be played on is down to the player you use and of course the format of the content. We happily stream stuff of S3 to mobile devices using JWPlayer.

As for unlisted videos, there is virtually nothing stopping one person buying access to the page, extracting the video URL and sharing it with the rest of the internet.

The fact S3 costs per mb is a downside, but it's very very cheap.

But MBullard has a point, you mention video marketing in the title (for which I agree whole heartedly YouTube is great for) but your post leans more towards PPV video.

Yes I actually wanted to leave all videos for free up to my 50th subscriber and then start a membership program with 3 different levels (free to see all basic videos, level1 to see all basic+advance videos and level2 to have access to all the videos basic to expert).
I wanted to allow anyone to view any videos pay per view as well (I'll check the links you shared).

Would anyone know if buying chanel and videos views on fiverr might help?

Thanks so much for all those info! I will look at everything as soon as i get home.

Yep, I take that back. It's not S3 that can't be seen on all mobile devices, the player affects that.

Best technique is to use promotional preview on youtube, vimeo, metacafe, c-spanvideo and dailymotion. just preview a glimps of what is inside the tutorial.

then install an add-ons on your Wordpress site, there's a lot of free addons of worpress . 0rg for membership site.
