Hi Guys..

I was checking my analytics of my website today.. and I get 150 visitors on 8th Augest 2011 and check my product affiliate back office and it shows 736 clicks on 9th Augest 2011.

How can it be possible if I can 150 visitors & 193 Pages Views and I should expect 50% CTR where as I got 736 which is 3 times more CTR..

I believe there is something wrong.. I believe there are some bot clicks.. how do we stop the bots clicks in Wordpress..

Does any one know about it how to stop the bot clicks.. it is very important for me.. I am totalling confused because I am seeing this for months and can't find any solution..

It will be glad if anyone helps me to understand more about it and how to find the exact solution for it in wordpress..

Thanks
Alam

How are you getting traffic to begin with? Are you using PPC or some blackhat method? Bots wouldn't just randomly click on your site unless there was a reason to. Do you have anyone out there that is competition that knows about your site and might be doing that? Just some thoughts.

I think your content and affiliate url have been copied by someone else and published on the web. People are clicking but no sales.

I am having same type of traffic with some clickbank products which I use to advertised 1-5 years ago. I am not advertising any of them since one year but I use to get hop clicks every single day.

Is it possible that you have a plugin causing the issue? Perhaps a broken link checker or ad rotator plugin?

I've experienced the same thing with link tracking plugins such as PrettyLinks for WordPress. There is an option in that plugin to not record spider traffic, but it still ends up recording a lot of it anyway. Now, if these stats for all the clicks are on a third party site then I have no idea; it would be an issue with that website and nothing you could do anything about.
