Do you have different merchant accounts for EVERY website?

Hey yall,

Been talking to the people at Powerpay about getting a merchant account. Their offices are right down the road from me...how cool is that? lol

Anyways...I was talking to one of their reps on the phone (very friendly BTW)...and they told me that I'll need a DIFFERENT merchant account for every website/product I sell.

Is this true? There must be a way around this...maybe put all products under one "main brand" or website.

Example:
Get 1 merchant account for "Peter's Products". Then release all products under that brand but on their own domain names.

I sell digital products and run an offline marketing business...so I know there's a good chance I'll need at least 2 merchant accounts. But dont want to end up with like 20 of them if I can avoid it.

Internet marketers are constantly launching new products...so I'm figuring there is a legit way around this.

Any input from Warriors who have EXPERIENCE with this is highly appreciated!

Thanks!
-Peter

    Good question.
I had this same deal last year with them.

You can have one general descriptor, such as Acme Enterprises, and then have that as the umbrella corp.

Say that on your descriptor and have it route to a website hub for all your websites.

And after each person purchases a product, haev them go to a thank you page that says that their CC will say AcmeEnterprises.com 8004443333 Make sure you haves your domain name and also your 800 number because since you wont match the site.

Maybe also have a video or something that they must watch that expalins all of this before they get to your product.

I have powerpay and I have about 10 sites and its not an issue.

    PM me if you want

I use authorize.net and when setting up your account, they ask what the nature of your products are going to be. Once set up, you can use that account for any and all products that fit under this category. However, if you are selling Internet marketing training and then decide to start selling designer dog leashes, you will have to get a new merchant account. You can get your account revoked if you try to fool them. So be careful.
