Fundraising and how to that best?

Hi I am involved in a orphanage in India, this one is in the slums right now. I hope you don't mind if I keep this story short.

There are about 70+ kids in a place where by government law only 14 should sleep. But who can refuse these street kids if they want to be helped? We can't and we won't. For security purpose I won't tell for now where we are located and I am not from India but the Netherlands. I have all the contacts with the organization in India to do this job. If you have seen the movie slum dog millionaire you know what type of kids we take care of there. We provide food, schooling and shelter, but like I said the place they live now is in a concrete building in the slums. It looks terrible, the walls are rotten and the slums is just a bad place. When I go there I need escort of my contacts or it is to dangerous to go in these area. Because I am a "rich" white dude. Well if I was rich I would not ask for advice and just buy them the new property. But I am not rich I don't even have the money to go there right now because everything is invested in my business that I am building.

What I want to do is raise about € 80.000 to build a new house for at least 100 kids. We already have a plot of land so this would be for the 3 to 5 layer building. If I can raise more we could go for 5 layers and hold a lot more kids there. But for now I aim at € 80.000 to build the 3 layers building.

Okay what I want to know is how would you do this fund raising thing and are there people who are willing to help me do it? The organisation I work with is Christian so if you don't like that and don't want to help, that is completly okay with me . If you want to help( I dont mean financial help here, but how to raise the funds), you don't get any extra info (about where the location is for now) because that is to dangerous. You of course get info about how stuff develops over time . The government is sometimes not very friendly to Christians in this nation (this depends on where the area is). I care about those kids getting a proper place to live their lives.

Respectfully this should be in the off topic forum.

I appreciate you want to do a good thing here but here's a problem.

so if you don't like that then don't help.
Very to the point but it sounds a bit rude.

So if I help I'll never know anything more? If I donate I'll never hear anything about it? I don't quite understand this.

I wasn't aware the Indian government was so anti Christian? There are many Christians in India and Indians are some of the friendliest people I know.

You could indeed create a donation website but saying things like "Give me some money but I can't say anymore" won't get many donations. I think your best bet is to go back to Holland and fundraise openly and take the money back. Fundraising under the guise of a group of kids, which the person donating will never see, won't know where they live and won't get any further information, seems a little short sighted.

I am sorry if I posted it in the wrong part of the forum, if a mod sees whis and thinks this has to be somewhere else please place this in the right tpoic because i don't know how to do that now.

You are right most Indian people I know christian or not are very friendly, but some states have laws against Christianty. And like whe have Muslim extremists they have Hindu extremists who attack Christians and in some states the goverment is more against Christians then in others. They say there is freedom of religion in India but it is not treu. I have seen the pictures of mobs attacking christian conferneces burning cars with christian pastors in it. There are about 3% christians in India as far as i know. So I don't say Hindu's or Muslims are bad, I know both groups of people from my private live and they are very kind and nice to me as I am to them, so no hatred agianst these groups. I love most people exept they who abuse in some sort of way others, this goes for Christians the same if they are exrtemists to others (putting them up their laws) I hate it just as much.

I am in Holland now not in India . If I create such a website how would I continue? I can't say anymore about there location for now. Maybe in the future I could say more. I want to be careful on this public forum. I changed the text a little bit. If people want to get involved they of course would get regular updates trough our organisation here in the Netherlands. So people would know what happens and how progress is going.

They know they live in India for now, the rest would be revealed as plans evolve. I problaby was a bit rude in my introduction not that I ment to be rude, just clear but I understand that in my short notice I was not clear enough, sorry for that. And thanks for you pionting that out to me, we are here to help eachother, are we not?

I think you should write to the following ministries to assist you.

    1) Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN)
    2) Bridge of Hope (operated by Rod Parsley's church our of Columbus Ohio)
    3) Kenneth Copeland Ministries

I do not have their URLs, but I am sure if you are able to Google them, you should have their websites. TBN can really be of help to you, but it pays for you to clearly state what you are doing, and be nicer in your approach. Your rude comments can be a turnoff.

I have seen cases where people who did not believe in certain causes, actually gave to those causes because of the approach of the people involved.

    Hope this helps.

If I am still rude please piont out how I am. It is not my meaning to be rude, maybe it is my culture where we say things as we see them. Also English is my second language. So like I said earlier I don't want to offend anybody. I live in a big city with lots of different type of people and respect all who respect others.

I work here with homeless people for the salvation army. So you know a little bit more about my background. Thanks for the organezations you have mentiont. I am sorry but I don't expect much of them for now because these are big organazations who problaby have other things to do.

But still I like your tip and when you don't shoot it is always mis( dutch saying don't know if it sounds right in english). So I will try to contact them. Thanks for the tip

And please people keep smilling, I love it when people smile.
