A keyword in the domain or not??

Can anyone help me. I am wondering what is the best way to go with keyword/domain selection. I have found a product that i can get the name of the product as my domain name - yet there is "0" searches for it in googles keyword tool. What is the best way to go. I have read so much stuff that says if you can get the product name in the domain, the site will greatly benefit from it, but how can it if no one is acutally searching for that product name??? Any suggestions here would be much appreciated :confused:

    if no one is searching for it then its useless.

    always go for exact buyer keywords with a healthy monthly search volume.

    as for the product name in the domain you will be severely limiting the scope of your site plus you run the added risk of having the product owner contacting you and asking u to take the domain down.

    but yes, it does help out in the SEO department and some IMers are profitable with this method.

      Cheers for the advice, I was leaning towards that way - it just made more sense to me. I just kept having these flash backs of everyone saying "get the keywork in your domain!!"

      I buy TONS of domains with Zero Search results, but these are Brand new products that have yet to hit the market, so of course search volume will be very low or even nothing.

      So if your product is new, then for sure go head and get it, and then develop it right away, and position yourself.

      If its a product that is already out on the market and has been for some time, then there is no point in registering it, if nobody is searching for it.

      As for getting the exact product name in the URL yes for sure,(no trademarked names though) as it clearly does help with SEO as one of the many points needed in achieving a decent ranking position.

    Be careful if you are looking to buy a product name as your domain name. If it is a copyrighted name or term you will find yourself on the wrong end of a cease and desist notice, lose your site and all your hard work will be useless. Many product creators specifically prohibit you from bidding on their product name or using it in your domain. You could find yourself banned as an affiliate as well as losing your site.

    In my eyes a product name doesn't really constitute a "keyword". Find something more generic that people are searching for. For example - if the product is about how to get beautifully decorated toenails fast and is called "toenail magic" - then look for keywords around the term "how to get beautifully decorated toenails fast". That way you won't be in danger of being accused of copyright violation but you will pick up visitors looking for that product but who don't know it exists.

    Hmm, you don't need search volume when selling a product. All you have to do is brand it and promote it on forums like these. Unless you want to spend no money on advertising and take a domain name that has a bit volume as well as your niche in it, I would recommend you go for that one.

    For example: dogtrainingquest.com
    And your product name would be: Dog Training Quest

    As you know, this niche is highly competitive, but could get you some traffic if you do some onpage SEO.

    Do more work on your site.Taking a domain name that include product name/keyword is better but without work thing possible.

        I would not recommend this as in the future the mervchant may change the rules of the affilaite program and request you to stop using the domain so all your time and money promoting the site will go down the drain

        go for a broad site
