Do some sig areas put you off?

Hi Warriors,

I've been seeing something a lot for a while that I was wondering if others fealt like I do about.

Sig file that have a bunch of links with different titles that all go to the same site. It's like they're so desperate for a few links to their site that they're sacrificing their signature area to get them.

I hardly ever put links in my sig anyway so I'm probably not normal in that respect, but spamming your own sig with links? is that really how you need to get them?

Andy, I don't think much of that approach either.

What I find even more off-putting are the sigs crammed with totally unrelated keyword anchor links. Either the links have been sold, or the person with said links in their sig is telling several thousand people what they're into.

Which tells me that the person doing it is either a tad shady or a bit naive. Neither inspires a lot of buying confidence...

It would break my heart. I don't browse the WSO forum. I buy products from Warriors I trust from their signatures.

As a matter of fact, I just bought two products from you from your sig about 1/2 hr ago. :p

I think I'm going to change my sig to "Suzanne, look at this!" and "Suzanne, you need this!" and "Buy me, Suzanne!"

        As for your post Andy...

I too have wondered if those sig spaces are being sold. That certainly would explain why someone would cram a bunch o' links into that space. I haven't noticed any of those recently, however, probably because I'm developing "crammed sig file blindness."

I just shake my head when I see sigs crammed full of keywords. I never thought that it might be sig selling, but I guess that is a definite possibility.

I just figured it was someone just trying to get a bit of a boost to their sites; showing the whole forum what they are working on. I'm sure some people would see it and start copying their sites, but I wouldn't touch them. If they have to resort to dumping a bunch of links in their sig I'm guessing their niche research and marketing methods are a bit lazy as well.

You know what would be funny - turning off signatures in the Adsense/SEO subforum, which is where many of the worst sig spammers post. Some threads are nothing but SEO companies posting garbage just to get more backlinks for their clients.

Just imagine the screams of "where's my sig???"
