Should I be making more with ads?

Hello, I know a lot of threads these days are to do with this, but my ad numbers seem disappointing to say the least.

I have 2 sites, combined they get around 100-160 visits per day each of these sites have ads on almost every single page.

Yet, on average I only make around £1-1.50 per month... is this normal? Or is there something wrong? Am I placing them ineffectively?

If it makes any difference, I use the same HTML code for almost all of my ads... because for some reason any new code doesn't seem to show up even after weeks, could this be the problem?

Thanks.

There are a lot of factors that govern this. Are you offering them something that is targeted for your visitors? Do the products themselves convert well? Are they solving a major "pain point" they are going through the moment they get to your site?

Ad placement is only part of it...there could be a disconnect with the actual people coming to your site and the products you're offering. It's hard to say without seeing the site.

Your ad placement could be an issue or you could just be in a niche that people don't pay much to advertise. I have over 100 adsense sites and some of them make me hundreds a month and others very little. It really just depends on your niche.

First You need to get more traffic. 100 visitors are very less try to post new content once your site having good traffic then you can think about ad placing.

One is a gaming site, and I have relevant ads most of the time.

The other is Fiverr, both are in my signature if you need to refer to the websites.

I know I need more visits than just 100 but im sure it should be more than £1 per month from what I hear people earning.

    Thanks.

Well, there are a lot of factors but what's your EPC on the keywords you're ranking for?

Looking at your Fiverr site I can see no reason I would want to click anything and your ads are to in areas where I am forced to view them while reading text.

Why do I want to click on your ads?

If your site is how to cure a toothache and the ads are relevant I will click because I'm in pain (pain is very motivating).

Oh, and you can get cashflow from sites with little traffic. I have a site with 15 visitors per day average and it makes over 100 a month the epc is high that's why.

    That does sound really low.

We get a lot more visitors (100,000+ per month) and bring in about $1,500 per month from Google.

There are so many factors to take into account and your answer could be as a result of several, or just one of those.

For what it's worth though, unless you've changed it recently, I don't see many ads on your pages - a lot of pages don't have any.

Also, they might not be as targeted and related to your niche as they need to be. For example, on your Minecraft website, the ads which do display are for Forex, spread betting and building an opti-in email list.

the only two things i can think of is that 100 visitors a day for an ad based income is very low. and I don't know if this was already mentioned but the ad placement is very important as well...so those could be two things you could look at.

Where do you suggest I place my ads then? Because almost all of the page layouts are the same.

Also, for targeted ads, most of them are targeted but there are odd occasions where they are not.

For example on my Fiverr site last week there was one about making money online which fitted in with the site very well, but unfortunately I still didn't get any clicks.

Are your ads above the fold? Usually if you have good content , more people will click on your adds.

If I was you now, I would just follow a Seo blog(A popular one) try to implement there tips. Just follow it for a month, you'll learn allot. I used to read quite allot of these blogs, when I was first starting with adsense & IM. The information was priceless to me, plus I didn't have to spend a dime. Thank god , I didn't buy a crap rehased guide. Just try to do what I say , spend some time over your site , make yourself proud. That feeling beats all else.

I hope this helps you to start earning with adsense. If I was given this tip at the start , who knows where I clould of been.

Thanks, I shall have a look for tips now and play around with different ad placements, I have heard that putting ads in between paragraphs work the same as pictures and people click them.

Should I try and implement ads inside the paragraphs? For example on my blog I have a 50+ Gig idea's post which is quite a long one, would you suggest putting ads in there somewhere?

        Thanks.

No one can answer that question for you. Just try to experiment , you know your site the best. If an ad placement doesn't work, try a different position.

If you are talking about Adsense than really ads placement can be the issue even if it is not the issue that it need improvement. If you have ever explored the adsense friendly sites you will notice that these sites have so much perfect placement of ads that they look like a part of the site and their are great chances that user will click on this ad

You should focus on bringing in targeted traffic to your sites by joining forums related to your product/offering.

So for your minecraft gaming site I would join a forum that is in the same genre as minecraft. Then hopefully the people who click on your website are interested in your related advertisements and click on those as well.

I've noticed several people say you need more traffic and certainly we could all use more traffic but I have a site that gets around the same amount of traffic as you from one to two hundred visits a day and last month It made 80.00 from Adsense.

I've never had much success with banner ads. Personally I noticed when I switched 2/3 of my ads to display image only on 336 by 280 blocks the Adsense income went up dramatically. Before I did that I was making around 40.00 per month so it was a 50% increase.

Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is people looking for tips on playing Minecraft may not be as likely to click on ads. But I'm no expert on gaming and this could be incorrect considering Google now serves a portion of their ads based on what the individual has been searching for recently.

100-160 visits a day is not enough to generate a significant income. Drive more traffic.

Stop saying he needs more traffic. This point has been discussed , if you don't have nothing else to contribute , don't.

He has enough traffic, my other sites gets less traffic than you , but they have a click through rate of 7% and some times make me $10 or more a day.

Just ignore what people say about traffic, focus on what you think is right. If in doubt consult this forum or find a good blog and read up in your issue. Or if your stick on coding look on YouTube or get a book from the library.

Just your common sense, of you were a visitor would you really scroll to the bottom of your site to click an add?

Okay, thanks a lot for all of your help again!

I may ask a few people some questions and look into a few things then place my ads properly.

        Thanks.
