1,000 Visitors Per Day

Hi Warriors

A few weeks ago my natural health blog hit 1,000 unique visitors per day. In early April I was at about 80 per day so in about 3-4 months, without actually doing that much work, I managed to grow my traffic by more than 1,000%.

In this post I want to share some of the strategies I employed to grow my traffic, and even share some of the real life keywords I targeted.

But first, here's a screenshot:

http://www.acceleratednicheprofits.c...icincrease.jpg

And here's the strategies...

Strategy #1
Focus On Keyword Research

Most of the blog posts I publish target one or two very specific keyphrases that may get between 500-10,000 searches per month.

Usually, for the keyphrases that get below 1,000 searches I can write a post, press "Publish" and I'm instantly ranking on Google on the first page for my chosen keyphrase. Not necessarily in position one, but perhaps position 5, 6 or 7.

And that means instant traffic. Not thousands of visitors per day, but a few more.

For example, one of my recent posts targets the keyphrase "bentonite clay for hair".

The Google Keyword Tool suggests that this gets 480 searches per month - just over 15 per day.

As soon as I pressed publish I added the keyphrase to my Market Samurai Rank Tracker. It told me I was ranking at number 5 - and I've remained in a similar position ever since.

That post has received 144 visitors so far from the search engines for a variety of keywords - the main one being "bentonite clay for hair".

It's quite motivating to know that as soon as I publish a blog post it will start generating traffic.

Some keyphrases need a little more work.

For example, I wrote a blog post targeting the keyphrase "olive oil for hair". This keyphrase gets 15,000 searches per month - 500 per day.

I don't think I was even ranking in the top 100 when I published this article. But, using strategies 4, 5 and 6 (discussed shortly), I have managed to rank up to position 3 for this highly competitive, in demand keyphrase.

At the moment I'm in position 3 and generating about 80-100 visits per day through this keyphrase only.

Pick your keywords wisely. Mix up easy to rank keyphrases with high demand keywords and promote the hell out of those posts for serious traffic.

Strategy #2
Create Lots Of Content

Another reason for my increase in traffic is due to my more regular posting.

If you know that every single post is going to generate you an average of 10-20 visitors per day, then it makes sense that the more content you have, the more traffic you'll generate.

If you have 10 posts you could get 100-200 visitors per day. But with 100 posts you could get 1,000-2,000 visitors per day.

Of course there's no way of telling how much traffic a blog post will generate you. Some of my posts get virtually zero traffic, but I have one or two posts that get 150+ visits per day.

Create lots of content - some will strike lucky.

Strategy #3
Build Your List

It's hugely important to build your email list when you are blogging.

The reason being that as soon as I publish a new blog post, I can send an email to my subscribers and I've instantly got a couple of hundred engaged readers. And these readers can share the post on Twitter or Facebook giving me more traffic.

You can use your email list as a huge platform - start building it.

Strategy #4
Interlink Your Posts

The next four strategies are all about promoting your content and boosting your search engine rank.

The easiest thing you can do is interlink your posts. To do this, simply hyperlink a couple of keyphrases to other relevant blog posts on your blog.

It's a good way to show the search engines what content you see as being important, and Google, hopefully, will rank your posts accordingly.

Strategy #5
Guest Post

This is perhaps my most effective traffic strategy. Not necessarily because it sends the greatest amount of traffic, but more because of the search engine value it offers.

Get in touch with other bloggers and ask if you can contribute some content to their blog in exchange for a couple of backlinks.

I usually ask for one anchor text link within the article to a specific blog post and one link at the end within an author resource box.

I've had a couple of guest blog posts that have generated 100+ visitors in a 24 hour period and they continue to generate 10+ visitors per day even now - a month or so after publishing.

Create more content and get it published on more blogs.

Strategy #6
Get Links On Other Blogs

This has been a useful little strategy for me - but it needs a bit of luck for you to find the right blogs at the right time.

I stumbled upon a food blog recently that asked fellow bloggers to submit a link to their own food related blog posts.

Here's an example:

Fight Back Friday July 1st | Food Renegade

I was late to the party and was the one of the last bloggers to add their link - yet I still received 20 visitors per day for a number of days and still get a little trickle of traffic daily.

I came across about three of these types of blog posts and they generate a nice little stream of traffic. I'm not sure if it provides a valuable backlink, but it can't hurt.

Strategy #7
Blog Commenting

This provides little search engine value, but does provide a little bit of traffic from highly targeted sources.

It's also a great way to build relationships with other bloggers.

Get on the feeds or email lists of fellow bloggers and comment on their posts quickly after they are published to yield the maximum amount of traffic.

So there are my seven strategies to get your blog to 1,000 visitors per day.

It's simply a case of repeating these processes and improving on each one. For example, get a guest post on a bigger, more powerful, higher traffic blog.

I didn't have to use many tools to achieve 1,000 visitors per day.

The only essential tool I used was the Google Keyword Tool which is completely free.

The other tool I used is not necessary but highly useful. It's Market Samurai.

Market Samurai is incredibly useful for doing keyword research, checking competition and finding promotional strategies. The main reason I use it however is for its Rank Tracker feature.

Using the example I shared above, let's say I published an article targeting the keyphrase "bentonite clay for hair".

I'd add this keyphrase into my Rank Tracker and update every day to see the progress it is making. It's highly useful for identifying keywords whose ranking can be improved to generate more traffic.

I'm not a Market Samurai affiliate, just an avid user. If you fancy getting yourself a copy do a Google search for some reviews to see if it's right for you.

I hope this post helps.

Share some of your own strategies by replying below.

Thanks,
James

    hi james!
    awesome insights!
I wanted to ask you: about Market Samurai, when I try to check keywords, sometimes I can't find keywords with 100% PBR, I saw the videos on MS Dojo, but I don't know how to check PBR, have you ever had this issue??

Just another question, MS suggests to find keywords by following the golden rules (the preset filters), but if you wanted to find keywords that are relevant with lower competition, 100% PBR, traffic and commerciality, how would you do it??

thanks a lot , your post was very useful!

      Hi there.

I'll be completely honest, I only really use Market Samurai for the Rank Tracker feature.

I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot of the features but I haven't managed to get my head around it yet.

I probably do, on average, about 5 posts per week. I've just got back from a week holiday and didn't post all week and traffic actually grew.

I've never done any backlink blasts. I can't imagine Google looks too favourably on them and I don't want to do anything to risk going into the bad books of Google.

I got over a thousand views a day after three months of writing on Factoidz, and I'm still getting that, although it doesn't pay big residuals, and I can't build a list, or be too commercial. On my own site, it's been a little slower going from the search engines, but it's only been a month.

Nice post James, nice little plan.

Your number 3 is the best tip here for sure.

Once I started to build a list, and create a good relationship with them, well the size of my bank balance, house, new car and business just exploded. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but the best asset to any business online is a list of hot prospect you can call to attention with the press of a button. Very powerful stuff.

thank you for sharing this information!

I just checked and your website is #1 on Google for "bentonite clay for hair"!!!
There is a little problem with JavaScript on your website though...
All browsers crash because of some JavaScript (I don't remember exactly what was that error). If JavaScript is disabled in Firefox then everything works.

I wanted to ask you if IM is you full time business and if it is how many websites like this one do you manage to get full time income?

Google puts a lot of emphasis in their ranking formula on how long visitors from their engine stay on the visited site (bounce rates). Unknowingly to the owner, this javascript error on his site maybe giving him a huge SEO boost.

I found myself on his site for several minutes as I was unable to click out or close the window.

I am also surprised that 1000 visitors per day are making him less than $500 per month.

The problem with blogs that have all of the articles in one very long page is that the blog will usually get a ton of longtails because of that long page, but on the bad side is that most of the traffic will be very untargeted.

        Hi there

Please could you give me more info as to the Javascript error I'm receiving please?

I'd imagine if it's ruining user experience then Google would penalize me for it. It might explain my gradual decline in search traffic.

Thanks for sharing James, and congrats. I too have found building up a large site works great for ranking and traffic.

Question for you: when you guest post, do you submit unique articles or give them articles already published on your blog?

The reason I ask is I'm loath to give away unique content, but I also find most high-traffic websites want only unique articles as guest posts.

      Yes, always unique.

Yesterday I spent about two hours writing a good quality 800 word post for a popular health blog. I wrote it with the blog and its audience in mind.

Once I'd finished it I emailed the blog owner, attached my article and explained that it would be exclusively for his blogs use.

Within an hour he replied and the post is due to be published today - any minute now in fact.

From previous experience guest posting for this blog, I normally get 200-300 visitors in the first 48 hours and 5-6 per day after that.

      Over a year that's about 2,000 visitors - plus a very valuable backlink from a PR4 blog.

Don't worry about creating unique content for guest posting - all the effort will be paid back in the end.

How are you successful at getting guest blogging gigs? If you don't mind, can you give some of the details as to what you say and how you say it to the potential bloggers that will host your article?

Also, do you usually go for direct competitors? Or just any reasonable high PR blog?

And how do you broach the subject of getting a backlink? Do you wait to bring that up or bring it up right from the start?

I write a really good article, with a few keywords hyperlinked back to a blog post on my site.

I then email a blog owner and say:

          "Hey.

I wrote a really good article that I think your blog readers will love. I have attached it to this email.

I'd love for it to be published on your site.

Please get back letting me know if it meets your high standards and if it will appear on your blog.

          Thanks."

Very interesting! Of course, if all else fails, you can just put it on your own site I suppose, so it's not wasted effort.

If I can ask, how long do you usually wait to hear back from them before you go to another blogger with the same article?

    Strategy #1
    Focus On Keyword Research

Most of the blog posts I publish target one or two very specific keyphrases that may get between 500-10,000 searches per month.

Usually, for the keyphrases that get below 1,000 searches I can write a post, press “Publish” and I’m instantly ranking on Google on the first page for my chosen keyphrase. Not necessarily in position one, but perhaps position 5, 6 or 7.

And that means instant traffic. Not thousands of visitors per day, but a few more.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

    A little update:

The site was generating 1,300 visitors per day for a while, and then I changed to the Genesis theme and paid a designer to customize some features for me, and since then my traffic has dropped slowly and I'm now at 600 visitors per day.

Not to panic though, I know I haven't done anything that Google would penalize me for, the content is good, I'm building good, worthwhile backlinks.

I'm sure after this little dance I'll start climbing again.

Regarding whether I'm making money from the site...

I wasn't at first. I was making about $150 per month from about 25k visitors per month. I've made a few changes recently though and I'm converting more visitors into subscribers.

Plus, my first follow up message promotes a hair oil and I'm getting a 60% click-thru and a 3% conversion with a $40 payout.

I've also added a link to this hair oil at the bottom on my posts related to hair care and I'm getting some clicks and sales from that.

I anticipate when my traffic gets back to 1k per day I'll be making about 1 sale per day - on average - for this product which is $40 per day all being well.

Of course these are rough estimates.

Amazon commissions were just shy of $200 this month which is pretty poor. I'm only promoting $5-20 products which is a problem. I'll have to include more higher priced products to increase these sales.

Apart from that it's mainly a case of finding other products with a bigger payout, like the hair oil I found that I can promote to my subscribers.

    Thanks,
    James

Nice strategies that I use myself. For me hardest is to find guest posts. My contest is so HQ than their content (3k words articles, really engaging) and they just don't want to lost readers i suppose. Anyways, im only moving forward with traffic, so it's still ok

Many people don't realize the power of interlinking their posts. This strategy alone has helped me rank some of my posts in the top 3 positions on Google.

For those of you who aren't interlinking your posts, start now!!

    for me the takeaway is:

"get on the feed list of related blogs and quickly publish comments to get max traffic"

yup great tip, the comments may be turned off after it reached particular number. Also once the post gets popular it will get search traffic and would will get a small % of it...

    Thanks for it.

Constant blogging everyday is a good way to naturally create a lot of incoming backlinks to your site as the OP proved here, the only issue is a lot of people don't have the time or desire to write quality content everyday.

Nice tips and it highlights you need to put in the work. I would say that keyword research is vital as a converting keyword can make a huge difference.

Guest blogging is for sure becoming more popular also.
