You might want to make sure that your copy of Wordpress and all of the plugins are up to date. While you are at it, make sure you don't have a keylogger on your computer. Your host might have a backup, you should contact them as soon as you can.

Good luck with asking your webhost to help mine told me it was my responsibility and they even shut my account down mind you I did have 50 sites hacked at the same time what a nightmare that was.

So first off do contact them and ask what to do, if they say its your responsibility your going to have to find a service to help you.

I now always install new wordpress sites with 2 security plugins and have never had another problem.

Just do a plugin search for the following

      Bullet proof Security plugin

      Log in Lockdown

Never had another issue after always installing these plugins (touch wood.)

Thanks for the plugins. I believe net security is a big issue these days.

Those safety tips don't matter since there was a timthumb entry point that they were using. They can't actually figure out your very secure and long complicated password randomly. Most developers have addressed this by now, but you might need to re-install the theme. Just Host will not do anything, unless your just host itself was hacked. If it was just your wordpress login for a site and they replaced the index page, that's an easy fix. But yeah try to have a back of info and articles if you can. There is a way to change your wordpress password in your phpMyAdmin area in just host. It's just one of those random things that happens once in a great while. There was one going around with Osama on it lol.

I think you should use a great antivirus (I've just bought a MRR product package and my antivirus found 7 trojans!!! Alwasy scan files when you download them!)

Then I would suggest that you contact your web hosting company.

They should have a backup of your site - you should easily restore everything.

Do you have a backup handy?

If not, your webhost may have one of their regular backups if you contact them asap. If they offer this service they should be able to restore it back to how it was.

Important: change your FTP and wordpress passwords!

This is a good lesson for people: always secure your database and keep your passwords strong.

And keep your scripts updated, and don't install stuff from sources you don't know.

Back to topic: After a hack, I'd always ask my web host to get my account completely wiped clean. I don't want any remainders of the hack on my web space, and with hundreds of folders, it's nearly impossible to find every rogue script still laying around.

No need to be sorry as long as you're fine spending your life in prison. What you are doing is illegal, even if you use a security hole.

When my Wordpress sites were hacked a couple of years ago, I discovered it was just the index.php file that was changed.

I did a fresh install of Wordpress on a new sub-domain. I used ftp software to download the index.php files to my computer (on some wordpress sites there are more than one, at different levels in the structure).

I then ftp'd the new file(s) to the sites and they were fine.

Host it on HostGator - If you ever get hacked, they can restore it for you.

Always backup your files as well ... Hostgator shared hosting will keep you safe from hackers.
