The hide of some competitors... DIRT BAGS! (YouTube)

OK, I don't rant often, but I sure am on this one -

Just went to log into my Youtube account and saw that my #1 video had been deleted for "a violation of YouTube's policy against spam, scams, and commercially deceptive content."

What ROT!

This particular video had been online with Youtube since January 2010... and after the cent shake up in Google moved up to PAGE ONE for 'How to Start a Web Design Home Business' - heck, it's still there in the search results.

All it was, was my story of how I started *my* web design home business. And some drop-bag competitor has flagged it as spam so that YouTube takes it down.

And yes, I have put in an appeal... but far out - I'm pi*****!

Paul

(Sorry, had to get that off my chest -)

Google has always stated that competitors can't affect you...which of course is complete and utter trash.

Competitors will go after your Adsense, Adwords, Youtube and organic listings precisely BECAUSE Google does such a shameful job of self-policing. Google has never really cared about collateral damage as long as they keep selling ads. Proof positive is the 4-6 weeks it takes them to respond to emails- if ever.

Then again perhaps it's nothing to do with your competitors. Seeing as you're targeting "home business", isn't that one of the niches Google publicly dislikes?

I'd say you're just getting nuked for having those keywords in your video title, what with the recent Youtube crackdown and all.

    Just putting it out there...

    Paul.

    You're not the only one:

I guess you should just count yourself lucky you still have your account. If you have other videos on the account in a similar niche then you may not want to draw any further unnecessary attention from Google to your account.

Might be better to just take it on the chin. I doubt they will put the video back up.

    That's big corporations for you.

its happening to a lot of people. i just read an internet marketer (cant remember who) that got all of his videos taken down and his account closed. he got the same message as you on only 1 of his videos. that video that got the violation was part 1 of him talking at a seo seminar and he wasnt even selling anything on the vid.

    good luck with your appeal

    Paul,

You sure you didn't break any of the following rules?

You agree not to use the Service for any of the following commercial uses unless you obtain YouTube's prior written approval:
    • the sale of access to the Service;
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions placed on or within the Service or Content; or
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service, unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.

Pretty damn sure... I did mention my website - but then that was the business that I was 'talking about ', LOL.

And that's the problem with those rules... they're kinda sketchy -

    Paul,

For example: the sale of access to the Service; If one creates a Youtube video and only gives access to it to paid members on their site. bingo violation.

The word Service here means Youtube delivering the video content. Pretty sure about that.

    Paul,

It will be interesting if YouTube responds.

You're not going to like this comment and suggestion ...

But unless you quickly start removing videos that relate to IM - which may be everything you have - my prediction is you'll be banned from YouTube before the end of the year.

That is what has been happening the past few months. IM videos are getting flagged across the board and accounts are being quickly terminated. Frankly, you're lucky it was just one video deleted and not an immediate account ban.

Best practice at the moment: make you sure you have copies of your YouTube videos so they can placed on your website or other video sharing sites.

Rus, a good point - but I've never used Youtube for this kind of thing. All my YT vids are free access.

I doubt they will respond; your thoughts are interesting though... food for thought over a cuppa.

Only about 1/4 of my YT vids are MMO - the rest more personal development... Hmmm.

As for backups, yes, everything is on my hard drive - even the one that was removed.

You've certainly given me some thinking to do... (can't ignore a Jedi prediction...)
