There is a product being discussed in another forum. It sets up facebook pages with video and clickbank and looks like adsense also. Seems like an ok product for the money. Thats not the point. Do people really search FB for product? I can see ppc ads directing to a fanpage and maybe that works. redirect from a fanpage or an awebber form to build a list. Just wondering if anybody really makes any money with a facebook page by itself. thanks in advance

I don't think many people actually "search" FB for products, they key on facebook is viral traffic. Whenever you make a comment on a fanpage, or even just "like" a fanpage, everyone in your friends list sees that. So the key is to provide incentives for people to "like" and comment on your fanpage. If you set your page up right, and give it a little push, then the fans will keep it rolling w/ viral traffic.

The conversions are not always that high, but it's free traffic, and it usually does convert eventually. And when you do hit on something that does convert well, you can make a killing advertising it w/ facebook ads.

Thanks Gary. I ave suffered from newbieitis ( by product, give it 2 weeks, go to the next one). I'm over it. I agree with what you say. My plan is to set up a business page, use an app to capture emails( a good one is currently being promoted), build a list. Give away some free content. Engage my audience. Little by little promote product.
Facebook seems like a great resource to build a list. PPC with FB ads is very tough, in my opinion. List building seems like the way to go. Above all, I have learned the art of patience. (btw, your video installing iframe is very helpful.)

Typically people on Facebook are not really in "buy mode" and are there to browse, interact, watch videos, play games, etc. Taking them from that mindset to a buy mindset requires a bit of a wider sales funnel than typical.

Like the poster above mentioned... facebook is a place for viral traffic ... Your best bet is to offer something for FREE of VALUE that they SHARE in exchange for a list subscription.

Your best bet is to get them out of the "frame" they associate with their normal social activities and into an external sales page after funneling them down to that point.

I totally agree with zenoGlitch. People on Facebook are not in a buy mode. The more you stick it to their faces, the more they hate your products or services. You can however create fan pages on something silly that everyone likes. Get tons of people to join and then you can promote your product. I guess this is that they call viral traffic :-)

People on Facebook do buy. If they "like" a page they will buy from that page. E.g. T-Shirts, other products that may interest them.

Posting on facebook fan pages will drive traffic to your site. It definitely works and its free. You just need to setup multiple accounts and use a software like Robotic Surfing Facebook Fan Page Poster to do everything automatically.

  • May be people on facebook are not looking for some products to buy but they are potential customers, when they see a page of a brand or just a page promoting some products they become interested it and I think if your posts impress them there's a great chance these people become your buyers.

I agree with rodjones. Posting on Facebook fan pages is very effective. I have the roboticsurfing.com Robotic Surfing Fan Page Poster software. Can't live without it. You can't do it manually. You need an automatic posting software. The good thing about Robotic Surfing is it's uses IE8 so Facebook doesn't know it's an automation software. Facebook has been penalizing posts that are using automation software like RSS Feed, web based apps and software using the API.

Cool. I heard about Facebook's new edge ranking that will detect automation posting software. Thanks for suggesting Robotic Surfing's browser based automation software.

With only help of facebook page, it is difficult to achieve the result. But if you link your main website with facebook page. And if your facebook page has decent 'Like' then the equation may go in your favor.

FB did give my quite a bit of traffic and some reasonable conversion on a certain product. You will have to do the "Trail and Error"

Facebook users are not in the buy mode like when they are specifically searching on google but they can be converted into buyers with the right offer. The benefit of Facebook Fan Pages is targeting a specific niche group. For example if you are selling Yoga supplies, people that are part of a Yoga group will be your target market. You can't ask for a better captive audience.

Use facebook to find your customers. Use a like button to offer a great freebie. Then send them to your squeeze page to get them in your sales funnel. Then market to them like crazy. You have to know whether or not they are interested in clicking on a product first.

      Hi,

I bought the Roboticsurfing Facebook Posting s/w but when I test it - it says posting is not allowed. The pages I tested on were mine and I know people can post. Has anyone ever seen this problem ?

Word of caution if you are looking at their products - support from roboticsurfing does not seem to exist !

      Appreciate any help

      Thanks

      Si

It really depends on what niche you're targeting with your fan page. If it's a topic which people are really passionate about, the fan page can go viral very quickly once you get a few thousand likes. Getting to that stage can take time though, unless you pay for advertising or use a Facebook app that offers an incentive for people to invite their friends to like your fan page. Once you have the traffic, you can then experiment with different strategies to start profiting (such as Facebook apps that allow you to put a subscription form in a gif image so that people can join your email list).
