I HATE Internet Marketing...

Hello.

I HATE internet marketing today. This is not the the only
day I have hated internet marketing, but never the less:

Internet Marketing Sucks.

I spend all day working on stuff, and some of it fails.
I spend hundreds of dollars on stuff and some of it is wasted.
I buy 1 new domain and it becomes immediately redundant.
I learn 2 new techniques and I don't get to use them.

If only I could have:

Got up at 06.30 am in the dark, cold morning,
Got into my car and burned up $20 petrol,
Arrived at work where people pretend to like me, and I have to perform like a chimp for 8 hrs
Got home past 6pm tired, agitated and anti social...

...at least I'd have got my paycheck for the week (until they go bust).

Perhaps the thought should have been:

I spend all day working on stuff, and some of it fails: Meaning I am much closer to knowing what works (and my competition will drop out at this stage).
I spend hundreds of dollars on stuff and some of it is wasted.(but it's still owned by me, and who knows when I'll need that stuff)
I buy 1 new domain and it becomes immediately redundant.(but I can easily set up a squeeze page, autoresponder email series and start trying out some best selling Clickbank products)
I learn 2 new techniques and I don't get to use them.(but who knows, when I get laid off tomorrow, I might just need them more than ever).

Bye.

I agree! But man you scared me for a second!

Life has its ups and downs... EVERYONE has their ups and downs...

One of my favorite quotes is "Fall down seven, get up eight." It is very true, and it is the base of all success. Nobody, except VERY few, gets successful their first try...

As long as you have the passion, you will make it... nobody should ever forget that.

There is no force in the universe as powerful as persistence:

For all those within earshot, never give up, not now.

It's the beginning of a golden age for people conducting online business and has never been easier for anyone with...

    - common sense
    - can follow instructions
    - a decent work ethic

to learn how to create another source of income than it is right now.

( Note: I didn't say it would be easy, I said it's never been easier )

These are Magna Carta opportunity times!

For those of you telling him not quit or don't give up we may need to take you by the hand and lead you through the post one more time.

To avoid anymore people making the mistake he is illustrating why Internet Marketing just like any other thing IM has its ups in downs, but if you look at the big picture it is a lot better than the alternative.

Wow inspirational post. You only learn from your mistakes though. Just don't spend a boatload of money testing things (i.e. there are many free ways of getting traffic).

Man everyone here on the forum has been through the tough times. Times when things didnt make sense and no money was being made. The ones that stayed and battled through are the successful ones, the ones that quit are back at their 9-5 jobs.

If you are working hard, then you never know, tomorrow you may wake up to a nice big fat balance in your clickbank account!

    Hang in there mate

Yes whenever you need the impetus to think positively, just remember when he used to work in that boring 9 to 5 job which you absolutely hated. If you can imagine earning enough money online to do what you want and work when you want where you want them that vision can carry it through certainly.

I have to say, I feel the same way every single day. I slog home from my J.O.B. and plug away at this thing... I do make some $ at it, but not as much as I had hoped I'd be making by now... On the other hand, 2009 will be the year I brake through! I can feel it!

AWESOME! That was great man - I kind of had a feeling where you were heading, but the read was enjoyable, and well written my friend!

Yeah working at home sucks balls sometimes, especially when you don't leave the house for a few days. It also sucks when you get into the loop of staying up all kinds of crazy hours - like me at this moment - and you're going to bed between 5 and 10am and waking up between 3 and 5pm...

But I'm working for myself, at home, and that's all that matters!

    Here's my party pooper impression..

What I dislike about internent marketing is that the term has been hijacked by people marketing internet marketing to internet marketing types, teaching them how to market internet marketing on the internet to internet marketers.

I came here hoping to learn how to market my PRODUCT, not how to convince other people that they should pay me money for my expertise in convincing other people that they should pay me money for.. well you get the idea.

I hang around as one can pick up interesting tips or have fun conversations while helping each other - but as as "internet marketing" goes you all seem to be busy selling each other the secrets of selling to each other the secrets of selling to wannabe sellers.

Sure, IM products are indeed products and do indeed get sold but I have to wonder, do any of you people actually produce products for the general public?

and I don't mean as an affiliate?

Hey thanks for the reply, but I think you missed my point! I am NOT a quitter and I have no intention of quitting...and I LOVE this game. This post was to point out the frame of mind that someone thinking about quitting may be in, and to put it into perspective to see what the "other" option is. Lol, guess it backfired, as this guy pointed out:

I like this post. It gets me thinking.....

Internet marketing is a business. Having worked offline for 25 years, making the 30 second commute to work every morning beats driving to work everyday.

Internet marketing is also a niche. It can be a profitable one for sure, but there are a lot of ways to make money online that have nothing to do with selling IM products.

    Very good post Nick,

I'm active in Internet Marketing for about a year and a half now and I like it a lot, because you learn a lot, you meat interesting people online, there are always new technologies coming,...
BUT on the other hand... man I can hate it some days. Sometimes I want to throw my laptop through the window when things do not work out like I want them.
Now let's be honest when you have a traditional job or business it is the same, sometimes you hate it and sometimes you love it.
But one thing is for sure, there is a tremendous future in internet marketing (and that's NOT the case in every job or business), so learning how to do it is worth the time and the money, that's what I believe
    Cheers,
    Elmar

    Hello.
I am encouraged with this post, i thought i was a lone not knowing we are many.

Anyway, the fact is that there is money online and many has made it, so, i so much believe that with persistence we will all get their, is a matter of smart working time.

My little secret is that i master a particular online marketing strategy. in short, i can explaing much on IM and i go offline to sell the idea. people are always interested when i do everything perfectly to their face and they pay much for that service and that is what is keeping me moving for the main time.

So, learn very well with view of teaching.

      Great post.

I've run a number of offline businesses in the Dark Ages of Pre-Internet. Once, I even ran a fish company. Used to get up at 5 every morning to go meet the fishboats and swing deals. Usually ended my day around 8 pm, running deliveries to restaurants.

I'll take the occasional online disappointment. Of course, the sudden butt cramps from sitting too long like a lazy vegetable ....

Yep, this sounds like the wonderful world of IM! You can easily work your ass off and get nowhere. It really sucks hard sometimes.

But at the end of the day at least we work for ourselves and not other schmuck who owns out labor...internet marketers of the world unite!

Aint that the truth...that really is how it is, yet so easy to forget that simple truth sometimes when you're immersed in your little world of daily evil internet domination.
