On a daily basis I have my head in a pile of stats and data.

Why?

Because it makes ALL the difference.

Here's an example...
I've been promoting a product that steadily converted at 2% and made a lot of $ on a daily basis.

Then the sales page changed.

Ever since it's been converting at a dismal 0.8% over the same volume of traffic. (arghh)

There are two great lessons here...

#1. If you aren't keeping track of things, then when sales go down, you won't know why.

#2. Copywriting makes ALL the difference. I just went from what most would consider a full time salary on one offer, to a cheap car payment because of a change in copy.

Needless to say, I'll be having a word with their affiliate manager, or else finding something new quickly!

So remember to keep track of your data, it can DRASTICALLY change your results online.

Also, make sure to test new offers from time to time. You may just find something that converts over double. It's like getting paid twice as much for no extra work.

Good post. Many people forget that to make money online you must run it like a real business. Which in turn means you need to watch every detail of your business.

Get a base line of stats, so when a changes happen you can judge if the changes was a good move or a bad move.
