I want to add A paypal donate button to my site. I would write A page stating that any and if any donations are made they are all geared towards making the site the best it can be. Is this A bad idea?
#donate #paypal

Well i have never actually done this but it seems like it cant hurt. But i think it probably depends on what your website is about.

Also you can say that 75 percent of the money donated goes to charity that way you can keep some!

      I suggest selling something instead...

IMHO, Putting a donate button on your site makes it look less prestigious and makes you look like less on an authority...

Well, Wikipedia is known to not be an authority at all, since anyone can edit it, etc... IE, I can say that elephants have wings, it would be a few minutes before it was changed back

Regardless, there is a difference between when wikipedia and the red cross do it, and when a blog teaching people about XYZ does it...

Some are successful on doing this and some aren't. Experiment to find out if this would work for you.

Depending on what your site is about will determine if this works or not. I owned a site geared towards fans of hockey. The site had updates and all types of things. It made more in donations then any other advertising. Did so well I got clothing made and started to sell that. If you feel your visitors are actually happy with what you are doing, go for it!
