How would you make money with this? 8,000 pages of crazy business ideas!!!

I've been collecting Profitable Hobbies magazines for the past few years.

The magazine ran from Feb 1946 to Feb 1957, then it was closed. There are a total of 133 issues. I have 128 of them. That's o
ver 8,000 pages total of money making ideas.

Lots of great how-to articles inside on making money and all are in the public domain.

Some of the ideas are bizarre and crazy like: raising hamsters for money, creating dolls that look like their owners, turning armadillo shells into handbags, turning walnuts into earrings, becoming a pet photographer, renting paintings to doctor offices, etc. People like to read about these things. How others have made money. Think of the old George Haylings books or the Millioniare Blueprints magazine. Real-life case studies.

I'm thinking of offering these in a book form, on CD, as website content for an adsense business model, selling PLR rights, or even just selling the whole set to someone else to monetize the collection themselves. The entire collection has been scanned-in, over 8,000 pages total.

What do you think is the best way to monetize this?

Doesn't someone own the copyright on the material?

I could see how it would have potential as an Adsense blog or even an ebook.

If you did the Adsense blog there would be tons of keywords you could target in "make money" niche as well as targeting phrases about old fashioned, antique, 1950's business ideas.

Since this collection seems pretty unique you could probobly get a lot of traffic to this from keywords that may not have a lot of competition and be able to monitize it through adsense. You could have a museum-like feel to the webpage.

The magazines are in the public domain, copyright was never renewed and has expired.

how about you find someone to OCR that scans into flow and extract images aside, and then just put that all online for everyone to read/crawl.
    ProfitableHobbiesMag.com is available.
you can only free previews of articles and charge for full versions.

They may be worth something to a collector, as there are only a limited number of issues, find the value in an auction house.
Is the magazine a local magazine or a worldwide magazine? if they where only a limited number sold they would be worth a pretty penny.

Failing that you could create articles with a resource box leading back to a website with more info.

Create an optin page to giving away something for FREE and then create a newsletter to send to your list once a week or whatever you decide.

Create a content membership website with a monthly subscription adding to it every month with more info/content, I think you have plenty to be going on with.

Those are just afew of my suggestions.

I wish you LUCK in what you decide.

    Take Care

Convert to text, upload everything to a Wordpress blog, get some affiliate offers up, throw Adsense in, and make money from 8,000 pages of content.

Gee what's so crazy about those?

Look at Americangirl Dolls, and I've known several photographers who make a decient livng photographing pets. Pet owners will spend a fortune for unique, well lighted photographs of their beloved critters. I know one couple who put a photo studio and printing equipment in a large RV and they travel the country photographing the dog show circuit.

At any rate, I think you are sitting on a potential gold mine. As long as the copyrights were not renewed.

I thought it takes some time for the copyrights to expire, plus most ideas that time already replaced by new technology, so hard to say if you can make big money on this

Yeah, still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with them. If someone wants to private message me with an offer, I might consider it.

go look at the copyright laws. I believe that all copyrights issued after 1920 something were automatically renewed for 90+ years? Check the Sonny Bono law. If not, then good luck. The material seems a little dated though!

    Oh man...

What a treasure trove. If you can get past the Copyright bumb, then you could create you own Public Doman warehouse. You could advertise them as fun content that have made money in the past and might again.

Or you could advertise them as Unique & Fun content for kindle publsiher. Your 8,000 pages are giving me 8,000 ideas from just the thought. There is something BIG there. You just have to think outside of the box on this one.

I would make a Facebook page about 50's bussiness and marketing ideas and load one article each day. Combine it with twitter, linkedin and stumble and get it going.

Combine it with MAX FB SEO and collect a lot of people interrested in marketing and home business.

8000 articles and you have content for years.

That's some pretty funny stuff! Like the animal caskets I don't know what the demand is but it should get some interest. I think it would be a good idea to drip feed it into a blog as well...and then maybe make the whole collection available for a small fee. Then as other have said add adsense to the blog.

8000 ideas ??? that is way too many idea . way too much stuff to do . I would start forgetting after 3 ideas and would start getting overwhelmed after 10 ideas

Will that really help anyone . It looks like you are helping but It is just too much information and stop people from taking the necessary action

Of course i could be wrong

        • Turn the crazy/funny ideas into a series of themed Kindles (1940's, 1950's, animals etc)
        • Add a foreword

I'd avoid the Adsense model. You have something of value and that would essentially be giving it away for most likely no return or peanuts at best.

Also, PLR doesn't make any sense. You don't have any rights to the material so there is nothing for you to license.

    .

Could you explain what you mean by "you have something of value" and then "you don't have any rights to the material"? On the face of it, that looks contradictory, unless you're saying the magazines themselves are collectors' items but the copyright to the articles is still in force.

I would throw away 7,999 of them and focus on one until I was making money then think about starting another one.

You could create an adsense blog starting with 100 of them... then slowly publishing more and more ideas until you hit about 3,000 (after a year or so), then you'll have a lot of followers and visitors and then you offer all 8,000 with PLR for $47 or something like that .

I'm sure you'd be able to make some nice cash using this business scheme .

I find both the ideas, and older magazines in general, very interesting. I'd definitely purchase a copy of all the ideas bundled together.

I'd avoid the Adsense idea, as someone has already done that at Profit Frog.

Personally, I'd go through all of the magazines and try to compile the articles into categories, like make money from beauty, make money from woodwork and so on. You can then bundle them up as an ecourse perhaps, or make them into an ebook, or even sell them on ebay as a DVD. People are more likely to buy from you if they know that they're getting something in a specific niche, compared to a more general product imho...

Good luck and hope whatever you do with the magazines goes well!

Since this is public domain work, why don't you put it all together in book fomat and list it on amazon, kindle, barnes and noble, sony, etc.?

You could do this in conjunction with all the other suggestions.
