Is the Weight Loss Industry not for online clients?

Hi everyone....I got to take this out of my chest and I hope someone here can help me see the light!!!

I have a client who is in the Weight Loss, Health and Wellness Industry. A couple of months ago I worked with him a campaign to drive traffic and position his website. In less than two months I was able to position his website for 4 key phrases in the 1st page of Google and for another 3 key phrases in the second page of Google.

The thing here is that he thinks that "doing some SEO" doesn't work for him or his industry. And I quote "I don't think in the health & wellness field its very likely to get much traffic from search engines."

I have several feelings about this:

I don't think he really understands and what a great thing we accomplished
He doesn't look at me like an expert
I am trying to find proof about the importance of being on the first page of Google for that particular industry to "show him" and make him understand

Does it really worth it? Should I really worry about it? What do you guys think?

What should I do?

Frustrating day today

Ranking on the first or even second page within such a short period of time in this extremely competitive environment is certainly a remarkable achievement. What I have found however, is that first time visitors are very difficult to convert, unless they are highly targeted.

High ranking in Google does not necessarily mean you really have targeted ready-to-buy visitors, especially in this type of niche. This is perhaps the concern of your client, as obviously you are not the first consultant he has gone through.

In my experience, it seems to be far more effective to capture the visitors' information for sequential interval marketing, either through offline postal mailing, telephone marketing, or an email autoresponder.

I understand what you are saying. We do have an autoresponder and are capturing emails but I can't control what is not in my hands if visitors don't want the free ebook. I have given him advice on targeting visitors, content, copy he is using but like I said he just doesn't seem to care... But hey, thanks for the words....

Being on page one is only a part of the equation. Are the keywords "buying" keywords? Also depends on the offer. Some offers will sell, some won't no matter where they land in the serps.

Yes we used some buying keywords and we are getting visitors... I have sent him the Analytics report. We have had some Opt-Ins but I guess he wanted to sell a lot of producs in no-time...

What is the site design like? Could be the design or navigation is off. Might be giving off a wrong first impression. Just thinking...
