And before I knew it, I was wandering down memory lane idly browsing through my old backup lists. Suddenly came upon a Word doc. in which I'd saved the purchase receipt for "Insider Secrets to E-mail Marketing" - an ebook from the late Corey Rudl that was a leading guide way back in 2004.
Curious to see how it had stood the test of time, I scrolled down to the actual ebook and double-clicked, but it would not open. Windows 7 said it could not open the .ebk extension. Back to the purchase receipt and the detailed instructions that came with it - and there was mention of an Ebook Viewer that was needed to open it. Scrolled up and down through the ancient lists again to see if I'd downloaded it, and there it was!
Believe it or not, when I opened the viewer, it promptly went online, installed itself and authenticated the ebook. Then asked for username and password, which again was mentioned in my handy purchase receipt, confirmed both and opened the book to full view.
I was amazed! Imagine a program made seven years back that is still robust enough to be fully functional after so many changes of OS, and several changes of my PC/laptops. That is the way to do business, my friends, put out a superb product that is competent both technically and content-wise.
No lame excuses, no meaningless padding, no whining as to why things won't work. That is what we need to learn from great marketers.
Am going through the ebook and it is still so relevant, it's uncanny. It's so true - the basic principles never change.
