What's the Difference between a Facebook Business Account and a Fan Page?

Hi guys,
I am a little confused. I know you can set up a facebook profile and then set up a fan page for your business...

I have also heard somewhere that you can set up a dedicated business account using facebook. Is that true?

If so, what is the difference between a facebook fan page and a facebook business account?

What are the benefit and drawbacks of each?

All the best and many thanx
Chloe

The difference is that the pages you can't email everyone and can view stats (like how many visited the site, how many female, what age...etc) and then a group you can email the whole group.

    • Businesses are only allowed to open pages NOT profile. A business which opens a profile page is in direct violation of TOS.
    • Business pages allow other users to become fans, but access to the individual profile pages are limited.
    • Business pages do not allow the ability to invite friends - in fact business pages cannot maintain a friends list - they can only maintain a fan list. In fact this feature is disabled on business pages.
    • Business pages do allow updating your status (which gets shared with your fans)
    • Business pages allow: pictures, videos, discussion board, application, wall posts, groups and other interactive elements.

You can have either a business account or a personal account but you cannot have both.
And "Each business account or personal account on the site should only be used by one individual. This individual should be the owner of the email address used as the login email address for the account."

Regardless of whether you create a business "page" as a business account owner or personal account owner, a Page can have multiple administrators.

Business accounts are very limited in their scope:
"You will not, however, be able to view the profile information of any other users on the site or add any other applications to your account. Your account will not be visible in search and other users on the site will not be able to find you and add you as a friend."

Bottom line, a business account will have access to it's Pages and Ads and that's about it.

Business account means you can only have a page and run ads. Fan page is something someone with a personal profile or a business account creates.
