As per post really, i shall show what ive done so far and am very open to suggestions. I use (and have really only ever used) market samurai, as i heard and learned via the 30 day challenge, and i hear it has a good reputation so that is what i thought id use. My niche is anxiety, my domain is managinganxiety.co.uk - Not sure if it is that wise to post my niche and ideas here but to be honest even if someone saw this as a good niche and (probably very easily) took over me!, if i get decent advice here then it would be worth it, plus hopefully help people reading this- and so far ive had nothing less than fantastic advice!
Ok need advice as to where in going wrong - anxiety is a massive area and i think quite lucrative with the right site and audience. ranging from, well im sure throw most topics in front of it - exam anxiety, job anxiety, etc, so big area im thinking. Site is around 1 year old now, well domain is, but since getting a rocket up my ass/motivation from this forum in the last week, it may well be all over the place with different themes, making a few banners and graphics, chopping and changing etc.

I want to expand on the theme, find some low competition and decent level of traffic (obviously!). can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong here, as i am struggling to find terms, using market samurai?

I have added screenshots to show the results market samurai has shown - if this is not clear or good enough can someone suggest a better way to attach?

Market samurai searches without filters or with - ie - no more than x competing pages or a minimum of x searches per day. My settings are set to uk - as the site is .co.uk - something i may need to revise but even so i thought that with the field of anxiety there could easily be some heavily searched words?

When i started 30 day challenge some 3 years ago (i have since left it and refound a spark of interest, in case you are thinking '3 years bloody hell..!!') the minimum was 70 searches per day, and 30, 000 competing pages. ive watched their vids again recently and they have changed to 50 searches per day and 100,000 competing pages. ive shown a screenshot with the latter implemented - only one, and this is a 'broad' match. with a term so vast as anxiety i thought there would at least be a few to try and target?

Hope i can get some guidance here, and am i missing something as plain as the nose on my face?? going about it wrong?

Anxiety is a huge niche. Did you not find something using a micro niche as exam anxiety, job anxiety etc?

Some people say you can enter any competitive market and make money at it depending on where you go to get your traffic. Keywords are basically just to get SEO traffic and ranking but as long as you have backlinks and use other strategies you can make money.

I'd try searching other smaller sub or micro niches. Go to amazon and find what people are buying in that self-help category if you like that niche.

I think you might need to do some out of the box thinking and start with a seed phrase that is related to anxiety as opposed to using "anxiety" or even "panic attacks". What other things would people that have anxiety attacks search for?

Also, when looking at the competiton, don't just go by the number of competing pages as this is mostly useless. You need to look at the strength of the competing pages and in this niche look for pages from webmd or mayo clinic as these are nearly impossible to beat out in my experience (even if they seem to be "weak").

Your keyword research is too broad my friend. Try going a after string of words say like cure for anxiety attack how to treat anxiety attacks. Still using anxiety attacks in your phrase but far less competitive.

Thanks for your answers so far!

Cashcow - i see where you are coming from with thinking 'out of the box' so to speak. I think that if you look at the screenshots i did just that - there are searches there related to anxiety rather than just anxiety - seperation anxiety, relaxation techniques, and a few others . Still doesnt seem to bring up searches needed for a viable option though? Well, according to market samurai anyway....

Blillard - yes i fully agreee that 'anxiety' is far far too broad - but my line of thinking is surely that with a very broad search, there should bring back related words and a bit more specific. And if i searched for say 'anxiety in older age' (for example, not done this search!) then if it didnt have the searches per day, then if there were anything related to this, searching 'anxiety' should bring up that result?

One thing i think im doing wrong is relying solely on market samurai though....

    Cheers

I should have been more specific, I actually meant keyword phrases that don't have the word anxiety in them. Things like stress, nervousness, etc... might be things people would type in. The relaxation techniques is a good one, maybe do some more searches with some long tail phrases as the seed? Also, people get anxiety in the grocery store, while they are driving and there might be things they would type in around that which dont have the word "anxiety" in them. Another thing you might try is some of the anxiety medicines.

The anxiety one is tough, I have a site in this niche too and it's hard to find keywords so I dont think it's really that you are doing anything wrong it's just that it takes a lot of digging to find the less competitive ones.

Now here is a novel idea - Why not try Google Adword Keyword Tool. It will give you suggestions that Google thinks are relevant. Try the website search and it will tell you what your competition is ranking for.

I agree with the comment that anxiety is a very broad subject. The Google tool may give some high volume targeted keywords.

Question: where do you think Samurai gets its raw data? Not that it isn't a great tool, but I like to use source data whenever possible.

I agree with part of your problem being that your using MS solely.

How many others do you think are doing the exact same thing? (just 30 DC members alone is a vast amount)

Your all mining from the same pot and then fighting over the same keywords, broaden your horizons and generate seed keywords from elsewhere and then use MS to dig down and analyze them.

30 DC is just a starting point, if everybody sticks to the same rigid plan and uses the same tools/resources you all get the same results with the end result being ZERO

Have you played with Google Suggest? After you type in the google search box the word anxiety hit your space bar once and enter the letter a.

Google will show you other anxiety phrases where the first letter of the second word will be what ever single letter you enter.

After that hit backspace, then enter the letter b and repeat all the way through z.

You can also google free google suggest scraper.

After you get some other (anxiety) phrases you can move to keyword volume/comp research.

That should help you come up with other anxiety keywords.
