Is it fair for one topic to monopolize the first page of this forum?

This isn't the first time it's happened, it probably
won't be the last.

There are 60 threads on the first page of the main
forum and, at the time of posting, twelve of those
threads are on a single topic.

Just one person is responsible for posting to all 12
threads. Some threads are current and some have
been resurrected. Presumably to get exposure for
the topic related link in his sig.

In my opinion this is both selfish and unfair and the
type of behaviour that should be reported.

Thoughts?

John

It seems to be happening everyday John.
Must me the latest instructions the lemmings are receiving
from one of the many junk ebooks.
They need nuking if you ask me.

Yes ... it is "unfair", isn't it?

I do find that the moderators sometimes remove those posts, though, if one "reports" them and explains why. I sometimes put wording like "has been dredging up older threads to show his sig-file" in the "report-box". (Of course, it's not quite as simple as that, because by the time that happens others may have added posts - not noticing what's happened - so the "congestion" isn't necessarily relieved even by some action being taken. But I don't know the answer to that one).

I think that's the worst aspect of this type of
behaviour. They never seem to consider the
impact that their actions have upon others.

Just report them if you see people opening up a whole lot of dead threads. It happens but there's not much you can do to stop it apart from reporting the people doing it.

That explains it, I was wondering about the influx of threads on that topic and noticed they weren't all by the same person. Didn't realize it was one person bumping a whole bunch of old threads.

And yeah, I agree that sort of thing shouldn't be allowed.

I've reported some posts where it was obvious that this was happening and they were removed, so it is worthwhile taking the time to hit the report button and explaining the reason why you're doing it.

Lol - I just reported him then found this. Hard to stop really. We advise people to use the search function, although obviously not so that they can then answer every question to spam their sig link.

If there was a "no more than x posts in y minutes rule" I guess legitimate answerers would get caught out too.

Indeed ... it's awkward enough, when one of those guys is on the loose, only being able to "report" one post per minute. :p

I just reported and gave infractions. I hope someone takes his signature privileges away for abusing it.

He already got a nice red card below his post. I thought I was the only one reporting him till I got here.

John, My eyes are open and I report threads which do just that.
I just wish my report button had more power so that I didn't have
to wait for others to report it too.

I will admit, There have been a couple times in the last 100 or so threads I've
reported that I could have been accused of jumping the gun so to speak.

Live/Learn. I'm getting better at determining the BS/Spam every day.
I'm Happy with my progress because I am learning.

    Have a Great Day!

Yep. Dragging up old threads for sig spamming is getting even more common than the victim-oriented whining threads. Wow.

They don't CARE what impact they have on others - it's all about "me and my links".
