Firefox has moved from v3.5 to v.6 in only five months.

That is some serious forward progression.

Google has backed out of providing support for the Google Toolbar beginning in FireFox v5.

That's the only thing I hate about these quick updates, they seem to be leaving their plugin vendors behind. They should at least allow for backward compatibility w/ all plugins.

I agree, it gets annoying when plugins don't work and on top of that no major changes

they had to move so fast with the latest updates because when they launched version 4 and 5 it totally stunk.

Major freezing problems and crashing problems.

However, it seems that version 6 is a lot better.

Google Chrome is the best in my opinion. Also has plugins and works really fast :-)

One of the major things I dislike about Google Chrome is that it tends to freeze Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and that is a major problem for me. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking for everything! In fact, I am using it to make this reply right now :-)

So, if that issue would be fixed in Google Chrome I would probably switch for good.

Are you sure it's google chrome?

I use Dragon Naturally Speaking all the time and the only browser I use is Google Chrome. Matter of fact, I am dictating this post in Google Chrome right now

EDIT: I will go ahead and install Firefox right now but I have my doubts about this new version. I just don't think this new version will be as stable as Google Chrome (based on my experiences with firefox ofcourse).

          Not 3.5 to 6
          3.6.1
          3.6.2
then suddenly 4 beta, 4.2 beta then finally 4 version launched
then again jumped on 5 then 6

They were moving so fast, but i still prefer to 3.6 which is best version from each aspect SEO or personal uses.

I was on v3.5.1 when I took the upgrade to v4, when it officially launched.

I am still using v4, because it took plugin developers several weeks to catch up with the update. I did not want to do without my plugins for several weeks again, so I decided to wait on installing v5. Now v6 is the choice, and I still haven't upgraded yet.

That sucks about Google tool bar not working. It makes it a little tougher to find Google page ranks on sites.

I moved to Google Chrome after starting to have problems with Firefox 5. I'll be updating to Firefox 6 to see how it goes but nothing beats Chrome for now.

I was worried about my ff addons when I first moved to chrome, but I've been able to find extensions for the replacement of almost all addons I would use with firefox.

I just upgraded to FF6 today. I had trouble with FF4 being so slow. FF5 seemed good to me. Will see how FF6 is. Still like FF better then Google Chrome. Though I do find Google Chrome faster.

I'm staying on Firefox 4 for the moment as the newer versions apparently don't support McAfee Site Advisor. Having only just renewed my McAfee subscription this is a bit inconvenient otherwise I might be considering something like Web of trust, though I've heard that is not as good.

Compatibility with ff5 was rumoured to be sorted by the end of July , but I'm still waiting. Apparently Site Advisor and Firefox 5, 6 and 7 have caused a high number of crashes when used with Windows 7.

      1. Accuweather addon
      2. Screengrab

      Hi Chris,

When I upgraded from FF3,6 to FF4 before, I switched from Roboform to Last Pass. Good for me so far.

It might be worth taking a look at it, IMO.

      Best,

Same problem here, the toolbar is GONE. WTH!!!

Did you managed to solve that problem?

      EDIT:

Just download latest Roboform version from their homepage, install, system assumes your account, and you're good to go. It was a breeze honestly.

I've always used Firefox (I did use Chrome for a little while) but since I tested out Opera 11 earlier this year, I've stuck with it as it has been easy to use and fast. I never have a single problem with it and it has plenty of useful features such as using hand gestures to browser, so I can go back and forth in pages very quickly without messing around pressing buttons. I also like the closed tabs feature, which allows you to re-open closed tabs, i has many other useful/good features as well.

All in all, it works smooth and fast, it has all the plug-ins I need for it and it is looking very slick (especially with the theme I have.)

So if you are looking for something that is going to work well and be hassle free - I'd recommend giving thew new version of Opera a try.

I'm still using 3.6 as my husband downloaded 4 and then 5 and it caused his browser to crash continuously. Until I hear from numerous people that 6 isn't as buggy I'm sticking with my old version.

What operating system are you on, with v6 crashing all the time...

If I could verify that my weather will continue to work on v6, I was ready to jump.

        I am on Win7.

Upgraded to 6 and it crashed almost immediately - not cool. It freezes if you try to do anything remotely technical or power consuming - like check your hotmail, gmail and latest forum posts in three tabs all at the same time

I am seriously looking at returning to 4 and will check out the links that Rhonda posted above thanks

I do hope that Firefox 6 will not be the same as v4 and v5, since when I tried those previous versions, my browser crashed and I have to re-format my computer again. And since that, I have been using Chrome, and it worked okay with me. So far, I haven't encountered some problem with Google Chrome.
V4 and V5 has some plug-ins that won't work, and probably that was the reason why my browser crashed when I tried to update my Firefox from v3.6 to v4 and later v5, both "latest" version crashed.
