How To Get More Traffic?

Hi I build my site 3 weeks ago and I don't have traffic yet. I've read that I need more backlinks to my site but I don't know what type of links I need and I don't know how to build backlinks.

What I have to do to get more traffic?

What backlinks are the best?

Thanks

You need traffic, not backlinks. That said, backlinks will help bring traffic in a number of ways.

A couple easy, easy ways to get both...

Join high traffic related forums, put a link to your site in the signature, and participate in the discussions. If your website is about cats, join a cat forum. You get backlinks and people will visit your site out of curiosity, if nothing else.

Find high traffic cat blogs and provide relevant, meaningful comments on the posts with a link to your site. Again, easy links and you'll get visitors too, assuming your comments aren't stupid.

A bazillion other ways to do both, but there's a good start. Keep at it and your SE ranking will improve which may bring more traffic and backlinks to your site.

    Hi!
Article Writing and Submitting to Unique Article Wizard is awesome. It's a wicked strategy to drive a lot of free traffic to your site (not really free because you pay for UAW and if you outsource the articles too) however, they will be spread throughout the internet in a much bigger way than you can ever do it.
The forum idea is also a great way to stack value in the market and become known in your market place.

if you are looking for fast traffic maybe you should try creating videos and post them to youtube and other top vido sharing websites , also if you are looking for long term traffic you may consider learning SEO a little bit !

Go syndicate great content via blogs, articles, videos, software, etc. People will often follow the trail back to your site.

SEO and backlinks are a complicated beast and it's never a wise idea to just start from scratch just throwing backlinks at a site with no keyword research, no competition analysis, or in essence, no real plan.

Start using social media to get traffic and then learn SEO in the mean time. Without a plan, you'll never rank your website and get organic traffic.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but I'm just saving you what could be months or even years if you don't plan properly.

Main purpose of backlinks is to help your site gain position in the search engines...You will not get much traffic from backlinks...

I would suggest reading the SEO section of this forum...this will help you gain long term free traffic from the search engines. This is what you need to have a good understanding on:

    1. Keyword Research
    2. Onsite SEO
    3. Offsite SEO - building backlinks

Get a good understanding of these three, and you are in a much better position to gain traffic to your site.

It depends very much upon your keywords and how you intend to get traffic. I also found backlinking to be highly complex and something I dreaded and I'm not keen on automating this kind of thing, although a lot of people do and get results.

If you have, for example, a blog and want to drive traffic, you'll do that best and increase your ranking/backlinks by commenting on other blogs and generally putting yourself about in your niche forums etc.

More details will get more relevant replies to your situation. I've just picked up a copy of T100k, which is $47 but possibly the definitive no junk guide to Traffic.

Yep, this is true. But first of all, when somebody is a newbie, he/she wants to get as much information as they can.

So even though, you can find tons of information about this topic, somebody rather ask before they act.

But you are right, you can use for example google search and you are gonna get lots of info about this from all the warriors.

Key Largo gave some good advice above. I learned a long time ago that you cannot put the cart before the horse so to speak. Free traffic is based upon keywords. If you do not rank with the keywords that people use to find answers/solutions, you do not get traffic. So step one is to research your "potential" market before building a website. Only after you find that a potential market/product/solution is under-leveraged should you act. Competing in oversaturated markets against those with much more experience than yourself, and tons of SEO experts on their side is counterproductive. You need to find a market where you can compete, and then go for it. Do not swim against the tide when you are starting out, you will drown! Lots of work and research and you will be fine, it just takes time and dedication.

Some great advice above - the starting point being your keyword research. As you're new you may want to start with 'free' tools like googles external keyword tool. Check out the popularity and competition of your keywords. Have a look online at your competitors that rank for those keywords. Use SEO Quake free plugin for Firefox to see info on your competitor sites -like number of inbound back links. In the old days a back link was a back link, but nowadays it really needs to be on/from a topic related site and ideally a high PR authoritative site like .edu or .gov, but blog and forum commenting is a great way to start. Do a google blog search on your keyword and start commenting! Also how much content do you have in your site, what keyword density do you have, have you registered with my directories or social bookmarking sites yet? Well written unique article posts are good, always include your URL in the resources field, and YouTube videos cam work great for traffic. Good luck and I hope you find some useful tips amongst those :-)

      Hi there,

I started off getting traffic via Forums and Press Releases and it worked pretty well for me until I started learning SEO.

Over 60% of my traffic and sales actually come from offline promotions. These include advertising in magazines, newspapers radio, and publishing articles in targeted magazines, trade journals, professional newsletters, and as press releases. This is in addition to online advertising, and articles syndicated in ezines, blogs and websites.

Your best bet is to create a Press Release combined with article writing and craigslist.
Offer you visitors something free and collect their emails

aside from buying traffic, the best way is to get more and higher quality content, spin it and promote it (i.e. submit to various high-traffic sites). It brings in much more targeted traffic as they're pre-sold on you, and it quickly builds backlinks...

Offline promotion is frequently forgotten but it is also a way to get traffic for free. Yes, computers are everywhere and many people spend more time online than offline but still life hasn't moved completely on the Web. Offline promotion is also very powerful and if you know how to use it, this can also bring you many visitors. Some of the traditional offline ways to promote your site include printing its URL on your company's business cards and souvenirs or sticking it on your company vehicles. You can also start selling T-shirts and other merchandise with your logo and this way make your brand more popular.

Actually right now the real-life connects more and more with the web-life since we are in the era of smartphones. In Japan there are more people online with their smartphones than with actual computers. This means they can access the web whenever they see an advert for a website offline immediately instead of having to write it down or remember it.

Offline/Online hybrid marketing is gonna be huge.

Well definitely all the methods being discussed here are the keys to building backlinks , but the most important and more common are blog comments, forums , and guest article writing.

in this way it takes time to build things, but it will be long time thing then.

Got more traffic if you hardly to find backlink, here is:
    - post minumum 4 posting with 400 words unique content (ofcourse you must see SEO ON)
    - or combine with post minimum 200 words unique content and 10 images ( remember 1 post plus 10 images) search images only on the first page and do not change when you 'save as' on name file

Post regularly, Pick a schedule that works for you – once a day, once a week, once every two weeks, and stick to it. Mention that frequency in your About page, and put reminders on your personal calendar. It’s only when people can expect regular posts that they’ll be compelled to come back to see what you’ve written next. If you need ideas for posts, read and subscribe to Daily Post, where we give topic ideas and blogging advice every day. You can also use PressThis to quickly generate new posts while you are browsing the web.
Write Well. It’s often unsaid, but better posts get more traffic. There’s no sense in posting every day, if every post is boring or poorly written. It takes time to develop interesting ideas, and to edit posts to be concise and typo free. If people find a careless writer at work, they won’t be back. What good is more traffic if the content they see isn’t good enough for them to choose to return?
