I want to create my very own website, but I don't have the money for a domain name and hosting. What should I do?
#main internet marketing discussion forum #make #website
  • Start by making some money by doing some youtube marketing, offering a service, or just use a free blogger to promote until you can pay for hosting and a website. All you need is about $10-15 to get started with a domain and a month of hosting.
  • I'll sponsor you with a free domain name and site and some help to get you going. I'm a private host and I love when people ask but first I think we'd all like to know what you are going to do with it? What's your idea?
  • Another idea for you to make your start-up money is to write articles for others. It is easy and it can be quite rewarding.
    • [1] reply

    • He's right. You can write articles and go onto IM forums and sell them in a bulk package of $2-$4 per article in a bulk of 10 and there you have your start up money. Easiest method that anyone can do. I can write 10 articles in less then 2 hours becaus I hve done it so many times.

      It is extremly rewarding!

  • Hi there!

My idea is to target the health market.

Projections from the U.S. Census Bureau show a big increase in the no. of older people from 2010 to 2030, after the 1st generation of Baby Boomers turn 65 in 2011.

The older population in 2030 is projected to be 2x as large as in 2000, growing from 35 million to 72 million and representing nearly 20% of the total U.S. population in 2030.

I don't have a plan for my domain name yet, so I'll need to consult you on that one.
  • Let's do it now. Contact me via PM or the website in my signature.

I'll open a GoToWebinar so if anyone else wants to watch they can. We'll all learn something.

    • he cant PM you as he only has 11 posts...

    • Alright, I'll contact you via your site.

  • I think its definitely better if you start a blog since you are individual at the moment. Its really no difference, you can still sell stuff at your blog and update you page, just like a normal website. The search rankings will come out the same too.
  • If you don't have money to start a website, you aren't serious about IM.

All business ventures have their cost, IM is one of the only true business models that don't have a huge outlay of thousands of dollars to start up.

If you're serious about IM, you will find the dough.

    • Two items:

      1. I have to agree with dadamson. You need to put some money into internet marketing. I am all about the free stuff when I can get it, but I also know there comes a point and time to shell out a few bucks to get started.

If you can not do that find a neighbor and babysit their kids for a few hours ($10-$20) or walk a few dogs ($10-$20/hour) or find an elderly neighbor that you can do some errands for ($10/hour). Make it reasonable for both parties. Then use that money to first buy something like Think and Grow Rich, because you obviously need to have the right mindset to get involved with internet marketing. Then start buying the tools.

      2. Be creative. If you do not like option 1 here are some additional ways to make money from nothing. Create a Squidoo page, Sell something on Craigslist, Create a blogger site.

Then once you have done that promote yourself through social networking and search engine optimization. One of the cool things about using Squidoo, and also Hubpages and Helium is that you have a one page website for free that is partially optimized already. Go out and put out a podcast using Audible (free and another way to make money) and then link back to your squidoo page from the podcast directories. Do the same with article marketing. Finally, create a video that can be put out to the video directories.

This will not cost you nothing, but time. As long as you are prepared to do the work then you can build it from there.

      Andy
  • Ok, just spent an hour on the phone and we threw around some ideas. One is investigating WSO creation (add value to a Warrior's life and they'll throw a dollar at you with pleasure) and the other is pure blogging with Adsense (add value to anyone's life and advertisers will thank you). Interests lie mostly in health and wellness might make some good PLR or good content for an Adsense site. He had to go (I can talk forever...lol) but will return with a headset and a skype account. I'll spring for the site and blog just for the exercise. I think it will make a good case study.

Stand by updates. Ball's in OPs court.

    • Oh great. Yet another person now encouraging beginners to start putting together WSO's to make a quick buck... just what we need.

How about encouraging them to learn some stuff and participate in the community before they try teaching others.

Considering he has only just recently joined the forum and has only 12 posts on the forum, the last thing I would be telling him to do is create a WSO. But by looking at your signature I can see why you would...

  • Hi:

    Shireen here :-)

You can generate some quick cash by selling on ebay or offer a service on fiverr.

After that reinvest some $$ into your IM.

    • GREAT post. I love positive posts like this that find a solution to the problem as opposed to others who are stuck in their ways and are really just a negative influence here and in the universe.

  • you can create blog on blogger or wordpress and earn some money then create your own website
  • As samual said above go with a shared hosting of blogger and grow when you have something to offer. Domain is not needed if you don't have money right now, you can redirect / place a link to the new websites when you have the money
  • Use a subdomain or Web 2.0 properties. They are completely free. You can also try out article marketing ...

  • Start with Wordpress.org and then you can export/import all your content to your own domain later.
  • Offer a service.
  • I've already offered him (and he's accepted) a free website, domain name and hosting. All he needs is to settle on the idea and we'll take it from there.
  • You dont necessarily need a website, but you could use blogpost if you must have one!
  • My suggestion is to offer a service. You need VERY little if any to start up.
  • Yes, I understand that and I even approach the topic with people I help. Unless you can help someone actually make money and you can prove it then I do not advocate stating so and I advice staying well clear of that sort of WSO unless you have something solid and proven to add to the community. However there are plenty of ways that even a newbie (to this forum) can help other fellow warriors and that is what I'm generally focusing on.

I'll give you an example. Yesterday I bought a WSO on skype. Nothing to do with making money at all. Just a way to educate me a bit more. How to really get the most out of it...etc. Now, I've been using skype and ICQ since 1998 but for a few bucks I was willing to see if there was anything I could learn that might help me. It was actually a REALLY good WSO. Very complete and I didn't care (or even check) how new the author was (in fact I think he was brand new and it was his first WSO!) - he helped me and I was glad for it and felt I honestly got good value.

These are the types of WSO I'm talking about. Not the "theory" ones or even the "make money" ones but the "save time, money, frustration or hassle" WSOs are a great idea (I think) and something any new marketer can put together. If someone can offer massive value (important) for a great price (also important) then I think it's an excellent way to not only make a dollar or two but also to help the community. I have no desire to dilute the quality of Warrior forum, quite the contrary.

Not only do I get (both) your point(s), I believe in, agree with, embrace and promote them. Quality and value are the still name of the game as they have been for centuries.
    • [1] reply
    • And those of us who have been here a while would have checked out that author. We do it for the community. That is what you seem to be missing.

I guess you don't really practice due diligence Bill. That is a shame, especially with the way of the internet today.
  • You guess wrong.

I'm not missing that at all and I also am trying to add to the community and I do where I can. I did some due diligence (he was recommended by a "respected" Warrior) but I was more interested in the content than how many posts he had. There's a guarantee if I thought I had been severely ripped off for my $5 but I was happy and it proves that a newbie can make an extremely useful WSO that is good value and adds to the community.
    • [1] reply
    • You are missing my point. I said it is not necessarily about how many posts you have here if you can point me to some other places on the web where I can learn more about you.

Yes - by using the name "WSO" in your website name and by charging people for advice they can get free here on the forum.

      1. I give help right here on this forum, as do a lot of people. For free.

      2. It is up to product providers to give support for their products and it is up to people to do their own due diligence before buying a product.

It's quite possible you really do just want to help some people, but perhaps I'd believe that statement myself by seeing you do more of that help here on the actual forum for free other than whisking a new member off to your own site so quickly.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Good to warriors helping each other. Great Community!
@ Neurons - Let me know if you need any help from me.
  • @Jill

I offered to help him for free. There was no "whisking"...lol

I do a lot for free. But I'm not going to give my entire life to someone for free because that would be stupid. If I have a valuable service such as real focussed help and support I will charge just like you would. Unless you are so rich that you can afford to just give everything away. Society is ok with people charging for a service. Not sure why that wouldn't apply in here as well.

I'm guessing you mean well but you really are making quite a few incorrect assumptions about me, my motives, my history and my ability to help people both for free and for a fee. I hope one day you will take the time to judge me (and others) fairly. I stopped in here to help when someone asked for help. Isn't that what we're supposed to do?

I don't see why you are having such a problem with that.
    • [1] reply
    • Aha. So you think trust should be automatically given to people or should it be earned?

Some of us with some experience might say trust is something that needs to be earned.

And you so nicely just proved my point. I have no way to know about your motives or history or even your ability to help people effectively. Why? Because you have only been a member here for less than 2 months.

Do you see what I'm saying now? Or perhaps you can see what concerns Will had.

The question is not if the OP has something valuable to share here with the community. The question is who is the OP and why should we trust him.

    • Also, with time here comes some general knowledge - like "follow me" type threads are not allowed. So we likely won't be seeing those updates here.

I do wish you luck with your case studies though.
      • [1] reply
  • Write for people at a price lower than the market price, that will guarantee you a couple of customers.

If a 300 word article is going for $3-$5 at market price, price yours at $1.50-$2.50 instead while overdelivering. You are not getting your moneys' worth, but thats ok .. it is better than sitting around doing nothing, just because you do not have hosting or a domain.

Then accumulate till you have at least 100-150$, which is more than enough for a couple of domain names and a year's of hosting.

    No excuses.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • WordPress is free. A good place to start.
  • Maybe grasp on some affiliate marketing first to gain some financial. You can get web hosting free at some places and a domain can cost as low at $1, depending on the extension.
  • mail me on me@nishantarora.in... i am sure i can barter for your own domain and hosting!...

    Thanks!
  • Try to offer first your services to earn some money, which you will then invest to make a website. Fellow warriors here had already gave some advises/suggestions on what services can you offer to them. You can probably start by writing some articles to them, and save all the payment to your articles to purchase your own website.
You cannot just start in the Internet Marketing business then you will immediately purchase your own website without trying to learn the basics. Coming from what you have stated, you don't have money to start with your website, it is better for you to start by saving some dollars.
Then, probably, you could read some threads here or ask some help to assist you on what to do if you now have enough money to purchase your own site.
  • If I were in your situation I would set up a free blogger account and promote/create products, you can even use mailchimp on that blogger account and build a list. , and maybe start doing some gigs on fiverr. You can also use squidoo, hubpages etc

Also do whatever you can to promote yahoo answers, twitter, ping fm, rss feed submission, blog commenting etc. Just make sure that you create good valuable content and I think it's impossible to fail.

Within a very short time you will have the money to invest in hosting and building a list, I know this works because I use this strategy and it works very well for me, indeed it has opened a load of doors.

    Good luck you'll do fine.

    Chhers Rob
  • I think the best option for you is to try fiverr.com. It's a free account and you can make some good bucks if you have a good service ! You don't need very much for hosting and domain. Use Web Hosting Services, Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Servers by HostGator and a domain from godaddy ( you can use a .info for just $1.99 or better, you can use a com for $7.49 with a coupon code -search on google)

I can help you with the blog. Check my sig.

    • You just want to make business online, or you want to build a website?

My hint is to start with a free website service, or you can even use Web 2.0 properties (such as Squidoo). Otherwise, you can use forums or fiverr to make some money.
      • [1] reply
  • Bill was kind enough to offer me a domain name and site and even discussed with me over the phone for free, for an hour.

I haven't taken up his offer yet as I don't have enough good material for a WSO, and rest assured I'll only do so when I have solid and valuable things to offer to the community.

I'm just looking for some mentorship or sounding board as I'm new I need one to ensure that I have a clear mind.
  • You should probably visit different service sites like odesk and Fiverr. You could get paid for writing articles in the warrior forum and start charging other people to buy them since a lot of people hate writing articles. Using your mental capital in the very beginning is the smartest thing to do instead of wasting your money on WSOs or other clickbank products. Also, if you can, try and get a mentor or start a group so you can stay focused on your income goals and one program only.
    • [1] reply
    • Not a crime at all. The point of the conversation had nothing to do with charity.

A lot of people who are new to this forum get the idea that selling something in the WSO is the solution to all their problems. As a result, it is sad to see some of the things I now see going on there.

And then before you know it, it becomes the answer that is offered to everyone and his brother.

I'm not saying it is never an appropriate answer - but I think it is overused and abused as an answer when there are other possible better alternatives to be considered.

The OP has no money for a domain or hosting. So how do we go immediately to the investment needed for the WSO? Right there you are looking at 40 to post as well as 37 or what ever it is to be a war room member - and having some posts or credibility is never a bad thing when dropping an offer in that area.

If the guy can't even afford the domain and hosting, how is he going to afford an offer in the WSO? Is someone planning to sponsor him the whole way?

How is a WSO targeting the health market? Unless he is going to write some plr to sell.

I realize someone can come up with an offer and use it to gain some credibility and some funds to help push that bigger idea out, but perhaps the answer of "get a job" which was recommended by someone else is just as valid - if not more likely to get the op on his way sooner vs later.

Before one can even go to wso, one needs to have some money to invest. No?

And if he gets that money to invest, perhaps the direction of trying to sell WSO's is not even necessary.

Perhaps there are much better ways to invest that money back into the niche he truly wants to be in.
  • you need more time than money in the im market.
    best of luck.
  • you can also build a list for nothing using listwire dot com.
  • You should do whatever it takes.
That could mean anything from a part time job, to picking up cans off the street.

It's always easier to get the start up funds needed via OFFLINE methods, imo, (go wash dishes if need be), and then use the money you make to fund your online business.
  • Go to blogger.com and make a free blog there. Use this to collect subscribers so that when you do make money, you can build a good site and still keep your subscribers. You would need to place an opt in box on the blog. I would suggest using this type of blog for adsense, that way, you do not have to do a lot of work or find a product to sell. Just blog about stuff that people like to talk about and get them interested in building your site and when you get the new site, email them the details and also post something about it on the old site to redirect new visitors.
  • Hi,

I would not suggest for you to use a free website host. Once you start earning revenue, you will probably want to move to a more professional website with gadgets like a shopping cart, blog, etc., most of which cannot be added to a free website.
This process (of moving the website from a free host to a paid host) can be quite time-consuming.

    Good Luck!
  • There is free hosting, but not free domain names. You can have a free sub domain where your domain is prefixed or suffixed with the hosts domain, e.g Maxwebhost.com - FOR SALE instead of www.mycoolsite.com

Obviously that isnt ideal by a long shot as you will get very poor search results, but for a cheap and quick squeeze page it could suffice.
  • I think u could start with blogger - it's free, no domain needed

  • Host it on a free host like 000webhost and buy a .info domain for $0.99.

000webhost and byethost are no ad, no subdomain free hosts. You just won't get the power and absolutely reliability of a paid host.
  • I personally believe that you need money to make money. I had to work conventional work to earn some money then do my IM. If not the other solutions is doing "free blogging" such as blogger or wordpress while working!
Remember, you need to have a capital to invest in order see some results (even though its not going to be a lot)

    -Stefano
  • look to get a part time job
  • on the other hand soon or later u will need a paid hosting and domain name, so why spend time for free hosting
  • @Neurons, hopefully you will review all the suggestions here, make a list of pros and cons for all of them and then make a decision.

It's obvious that WF is a great place to get vital information and feedback very quick. Use the info you've gathered here, get a free online account, coupled with some offline income and move from there.

The best thing you can do is to keep moving and taking action daily. Do not pause by thinking it's too hard or you're not experienced enough. Just take it step by step, day by day and you will be able to see light at the end of the tunnel.

The fact that you were able to find WF and make this thread shows you have some creativity and drive. Use this as a jumping stone to get some income and an online presence.

HTH...been lurking off and on for a while--don't post as miuch as I should but love to see new IMers wanting to make a go at this. Best of success to you.
  • Start making money through youtube. Refer users to a place and earn money off them or have them do survey.
  • You can make a free site at multiple places. When I started out, I used Squidoo and Blogger. Webstarts is another good one.

If you want to earn a few dollars along the way, writing articles for other warriors is good money.

There are so many directions you can take im. Just do a lot of research then take action. I made about 40 sites before I decided to move in the physical products direction. I've tried affiliate marketing, adsense, adwords, ppc, ppv, cpa.....

You have to find what you are comfortable with and then you naturally will move in that direction.

You will find you need a few things. Sense of humor, drive, hours of hard work, the will to learn.. and then learn more and yes, money. I do not possibly see how you could go very far with im, if you don't have a little bit of money.

    Good luck to you.
  • Oh a BIG huge thank you to you too retirewsandie.

SO sorry to leave you out! there you with a cookie and a cherry on top.

  • create your site on web 2.0 sites like squidoo, hubpages, blogger blog, etc. There are several places you can get started with.

Once you make some money instantly switch on to a domain and hosting that you own as this is the most important thing to get started...
  • Great info Danielle!

I am guessing you mean make a website on the Weebly free, download it to your computer and then upload it to byethost?

I made a weebly site and then downloaded it, then uploaded to my gator hosting account.

Problem is I could never make it look right even with help from Host Gator and Weebly.

By any chance do you have a quick and dirty way of doing this?

    Thank you
  • I think fiverr might be a best bet. You can even put on any outfit you choose, say a wolf outfit and sing Happy Birthday! Just go for it!
