Only Making $400/m - How Can I Make More?

by rimam1

I have two fitness sites and only make $300 to $500 per month. I think I can do three times that amount and need your advice.

The first one (www.IsometricExerciseSite.com) gets 8,000 monthly visitors, 5 to 15 daily optins, and has about 500 email subscribers. I only make $400 per month from it.

My other site (Chest Workouts and Chest Exercises for a Bullet Proof Chest) gets over 7,000 monthly visitors and only 1 or 2 sales per month and one email optin per week on average.

With almost 15,000 unique visitors per month, what can I do to make more than $400?

Thanks
Raza

In which way you are earning that $ 400? If you monetize with google adsense you can earn monthly $ 2000 easily.

just be careful with adsense - as soon as u start making over 1-2K they will keep an eye on you.

That is one way to monetize the visitors for sure. Personally I HATE Adsense. why would I give up my traffic that I worked so hard to get for a few cent click from ads enticing my readers to LEAVE??? There are better ways!

In the OP's case I would spend more time converting readers into subscribers, perhaps tweaking the offer that got the 400 subscribers because that conversion rate is pretty low, but blogs in general always convert lower than a lead capture page because readers have too many options.

Make sure you mention what your subscribers get for subscribing at the bottom of every new post that you make, always remind them to subscribe!

Alos make sure the offers you have in your list are targetted toward the audience of the niche. This is the part most people get wrong but the OP seems to be doing ok with his small list, there are plenty of people with bigger lists that don't average 1 dollar per subscriber and that is in actuality not bad...he just needs more subscribers!

Do you REALLY think that two sites with the overall monthly traffic of 15,000 will bring $2000? My site in the same niche brings me not more than $3,000 with the 15,000 uniques daily!

    Hi RimRam.

    Nice sites, well done.

The one thing I notice is that there is little incentive to opt in. Dont assume the reader will want to sign up just to know more about the subject. Offer a specific product, either a pdf or video and praise its quality as much as you would praise it if you charged $100 for it. (also doesnt hurt to say you would normally charge for what you are gifting)

That should get your opt in rates up.

Once the opt in rate is up, you should see more conversions on offers to your list and hence more $
Also, try a rinse and repeat with related micro niches.... perhaps bigger biceps, beer belly reduction, getting in shape after giving birth. Each of your site can then plug the next.

    Hope this helps.

Also be more particular about where you get your backlinks and other traffic from. But with what you have, this is ok. How old are your sites? Things can only get better. You may also control how adsense put adverts on your site, so that they don't overshadow your content.

    This is very big question!
The money is in your mailing list.
There is nothing better than a strong list.

Your sites are doing very well so you actually have reason to be happy but I do understand you wanting to get more money. You could increase the exposure by advertisinf these sites more and building more back links. The other option is that since you already know how to find profitable niches and how to build profitable sites, consider building more sites like that. If one site can make you $400 per month, ten sites will bring in $4000 and so on. Great job.

Promote your opt-in harder. Make it more accessible, bigger, larger, easier to see and opt-in. Where are your visitors coming from? Grow your list, and then build a relationship with them. Eventually you will be able to promote products and make more than you do now per month.

Create a report on how you got to $400/month and how you plan to scale up. Give it away for free to Warriors via an opt in form and then nurture your list with more valuable content and the occasional related affiliate offer?

There's not a lot of effort in creating a product on how you got to where you are, just tell people your methods, what you done differently. Maybe a video tutorial or an audio or ebook. There are plenty of people in the War Room who aren't yet making money online and would happily give your methods a go. Or you could release it as a free WSO. That would cost you the price of posting the WSO (About $40), but your offer would be available to the whole WF - more exposure.

Whatever you do, good luck in your efforts.

    All the best!

  • On the iron chest workout site, I would suggest you move the optin up at the top. So that it is above 'How to build crazy muscle'.

Also it is pretty boring and plain. Here is what I would do, create an ebook on something in your niche, create an ebook cover for that ebook(or outsource). Then add some nice graphics and make it pop out more if you are following me?

Then monetize using your list and your earnings per month should become larger.

You have got a very nice foundation with your two sites but you're not converting well, before getting more traffic, increase your conversion rates for opt-ins and sales from the email list.

Your sites look good with in-depth information. I would also ask your lists to e-mail you with their concerns and what they want to learn more about. Are people looking for exercises they can do at work or short routines etc? This can help you target new articles as well as see the products relevant to your visitors. Guest blogging can also be a good idea.

With that amount of traffic, your opt-in numbers should be higher. How much split-testing have you done on your home pages? Mix up your headlines and subheadlines and find out what works best.

Nice site. Adsense would certainly provide a boost of earnings with 50 sites. Your opt in could use some optimizing ,offering updated highly desired free-products to help increase conversions. Depending on the current ranking of all sites, it wouldn't take much effort to increase your bottom line.
Possibly have someone do a full analysis on all you sites, and offer recommendations , a step x step strategy all together, we can only suggest things from a snapshot of the one site.

I've heard of people having ridiculous success offering a membership or coaching for these types of sites. You'd have a lot of outsourcing to do if you were to offer either of these (unless you're an expert in the field).

    Shireen here :-)

    Here's what I'll do:

    - Give out a free ebook / video course to build opt in list
    - insert some google adsense
    - keep doing what works (build more sites)

    Hope it helps

Make more sites with these niches. Then you can promote those sites to subscribed users. You can increase the number of adsense blocks in your sites. Try to sell banners for CPA publishers. They will consider your site when they think about Media buying. Anyway both sites are looking good.

I agree with Sysbase, scale up. And a previous poster that said give them more incentive to opt-in. Nice sites btw.

Sysbase's suggestion is also my recommendation to you, if you have that number of visitors for a site, then you could increase that number by making another site with the same niche. If one of your sites can have 8,000 monthly visitors, then you could add them up to your other sites.
And also, you might want to monetize it with Google adsense, gives you a higher percentage of increasing your earnings.

It all boils down to traffic. You need to know where it is coming from. You need to know if the traffic is targeted. And, you need to know if the traffic are of the buying kind. Although, making $400 a month is not bad, especially if you do not pay for your traffic. However, there are other sources of traffic that you can tap which can bring you visitors that will actually be interested in what you have to sell.

Currently, I am getting a lot of traffic from Facebook ads on a pay per click basis. However, I am making 20X more than what I am shelling out on ads. The best part of it is that FB lets you manage your ad campaign to the letter. Also, I supplement this with the traditional blog and article marketing as well as all the other SEO crap all of us already know about. I suggest exploring FB ads, it has worked for me.

    Nice job on the $400!!

On your isometricexercisesite.com your opt in is kind of low on the page. The majority of your site views are going to be above the fold, and most people that scroll down won't scroll down too far. You have to scroll down to your 3rd article before you ask people to opt-in. I'm not saying that it's totally bad because you are enticing them with interesting videos. Maybe keep your lower opt-in where it is but add another opt-in toward the top of your page.

Then, of course, work magic with your list.

I just looked at the isometric site not the other.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1. try changing the optin so you just collect the email skip the name.

    2. move the opt in box all the way up top above the fight club video in your sidebar so it will be above the fold and easy to see. Add a bonus to motivate optins. Also, I would change the call to action from sign up to get it now!

    3. In the content of the site put an affiliate link with a clear call to action at the top of the site above and separate from the content. Let your affiliate offer be the first thing they see when that hit your site.

Try some other networks to make money like linkworth-this network gives a wide range of opportunities to make money from a single site/blog.

However $400/month is still a good amount. So good job on this.

There is a bit of worked involved in this but.

If you're making your income now mainly an affiliate product (say it makes you 50% commissions)

Creating you own product thats similar to the one you're promoting and you would instantly double your income.

A lot of work I know but it's worth doubling your income.

I definitely agree with comments related to IMPROVING the OPT IN OFFER!
It didn't seem very COMPELLING at all - instead make a visitor REALLY REALLY want to get your FREE OFFER.
How about instead of "Learn How to Use Isometrics & Plyometrics To:..."
change it to: "Discover Secret System to Building Muscle in only 5 Minutes/Day and Jump 12" Higher in 45 Days"
    or something like that...

Start reinvesting the money to make your list even bigger. Perhaps you could start doing some solo ads with credible people and build your list. Also, if you start providing a lot of free value to your subscribers, they'll love you and probably start throwing money at you the next time you make an offer.
