Whats the chance of Solo Ads being Scams?

Has anyone tried Solo Ads?

How do you confirm real buyers, legitimate, trusted list owners with proven, responsive customers vs scammers?

Or do you bother with it all as being not worth your time?

The starting rate is usually $85.00 for 250 unique clicks.

If I wanted to be a Solo Ad scammer promising unique clicks, why could'nt I pay .10 cents to 250 outsource workers to simply "click" an ad, then pocket the difference of $60.00 of quick cash faster than I can sniff?

I found this article of "alleged" allegations and accusations of Warrior Forum members scamming with Solo Ads :

Yea, use an established source that's been around for a while, ripoffs tend to vanish into obscurity before their reputation gets out.

I have heard good things about DirectoryOfEzines.com but it appears to cost $197.00

Solo ads are an interesting topic...

Here is how they do it:

They (they being the list owners) create their own swipe and send you traffic that is sometimes not that targeted. The traffic is in most cases from their list.

As the saying is:"You get what you pay for".

The going rate for solo ads is 30 cents a click (ranges between $0.20 and $0.40 depending on the list and order size).

If you are familiar with EPCs, you get about $1 EPC for email traffic. That means you draft a nice email and send it out to a targeted list. The result should be at least an EPC of $1 (it's actually very often $2 to $3 and more).

How can that be? They sell traffic for $0.30 per click when the value is way more??? Are these list owners stupid?

No, they are not. They found a way to make money. The "swipe" they use is often something like "Your free download is waiting, click here" as the subject line and the body is basically a variation on this. These swipes get open and click rates that are at least 3 times of what "real" swipes get.

If you for example sell a work from home program the visitor has never seen any ad that was even remotely related to your offer. Result: your conversions will be awful.

Does that mean that all these list owners are jerks?

The majority is OK and can be handled easily if any problem arises.

Just ask them to give you a price for one mailing (with 1 resend to the unopens with a new subject line) and they will be happy to give you that.

If a list owner has to guarantee the number of clicks they can not run your swipe.

You can also arrange that they give you a certain number of opens (meaning the # of people who opened the email). If you work together with the list owner you can both come up with a subject line and the 2 beginning lines of the email (these 2 parts determine the open rate) which will satisfy both of you.

I would never advice to pay a fixed amount per click as the list owner would have all the risk unless they are allowed to draft the swipe. If they drafted the swipe you will most likely see very few conversions (unless you get paid per install).

In my experience, there are different types of solo ads. There are individuals out there that will send to their list for a set price. There are many marketers out there that have very responsive lists and this can have a great ROI.

I've also had good luck with sending through different ezines. The Directory of Ezines (this is a paid directory) has very good resources.

Then there are the solo ads for the "safe lists". I have not had good luck with this type of solo ad. They get a tremendously high open rate (so they can earn points) but a very low buy rate.

When using Solo Ads you need to do the targeting work, the list owner isn't responsible for targeting... You are! If the solo advertising audience is not what you are looking for then why buy it and then complain that the traffic was not targeted?

There are ways to get solo ads for free... Think outside the box and I'm sure you ill come up with a few ideas of getting solo ads for free.

I do my best to qualify ezine publishers before running a solo ad. Suggestion, if time isn't pressing? Subscribe to the Ezine and see what the publisher sends to their mailing list. You can figure out exactly which market segment will read your solo ad by examining the content of the Ezine.

In my opinion - solo ads are the best way to get high quality targeted traffic fast... if you do it right

I got scammed by some guy who promised a certain amount of clicks (which I received) - all from a software in which the people that clicked on my ad would receive $0.01/click...

...so in other words, I was sent trash...

I knew this because I checked it on my Google Analytics account

Now - I make sure whenever I purchase a solo ad (which is almost daily) they are well-known and are only sending the solo ad to their email list.. ONLY

    Not twitter

    Not facebook

    Not 'bux' websites

    From their email list...

So make sure before you purchase a solo ad, they are only being sent to the sellers list
