40 Bucks To List Site On Front Page Of Flippa

I spent the day putting site info on my Flippa auction I am about to run. I see they have a feature to list the site on their home page. Any sellers have experience of doing that, and did it pay off for you? Thanks from the looks of it it'll cost me about 75 bucks to get this thing listed with bold font, front page, screenshot pic ect..

I will have a reserve of 15,000 on the site, and want the most exposure as possible, but won't be too happy throwing away close to a hundred bucks if people don't bite on that kind of number. Thanks guys look forward to hearing feedback.

  • I have put one of my auction on featured listing and it really works. Before I put my auction on featured listing, there was no listing views and watching buyer as well.

Then in the last 24 hours of my auction, I did it and in about 2 hours later, my auction have 3 potential bidders that always put higher and higher bids.

I upgrade my auction for bold text as well and in my opinion, it doesn't make a huge impact for the auction IF it not combined with featured listing upgrade.

    • Placing your auction on the front page as it approaches its last 24 hours is a cool tip.

Will try that next time ;-)
  • If you are planning to sell the website for the higher price, then definitely go for the featured listing of your website.

I wouldn't do it until the last couple of days of the auction. Most people just watch until then and bid the last couple of days.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The front page listing is a strategy I use once I've got a bid. Say I start my auction at $100 and the reserve is met, I'll then post it to the front page for $40 to get more eyeballs and since it's already got a bid, more people seem to view it and that usually increases interest and bids.

  • They'll bid at the end
  • Does that also work with sites that aren't generating revenue? I have a site that gets over 1,000 unique visitors per month but I don't have it set up to market any specific product. It's mostly just an information site but visitors find it very useful. I was looking to get rid of it and wanted to know if the strategy mentioned above works with non-revenue generating sites as well. I'm just not good at the marketing for sale thing. If I unload it, someone might make a good go of it. Just wondering, thanks.

    • Yeah! Traffic is increase your site value at Flippa. You can also sell it at higher prices than fresh new site if you have the proof of traffic in Google Analytics or Histats or anything else. But you can't sell the site at the same prices with the site that already generating revenues yet.
  • OH!!!! And no, I'm not talking about the site I use in my signature. I love that site and I've had it forever. Thanks.

  • You could always do this at the end of the auction,to get maximum exposure.I think is worth spending the money if you really want to sell the site listed.

  • Yeah site that I recently sold didn't really get much attention until last few hours. I didn't get the feature for this one, but in the past I learned that it works well during the last few days one the auction has got some attention. Like 10 bids and some watchers.
  • Great Info guys thanks! I like the idea of doing that towards the end so I will do it . I just listed my site an hour ago and already have 5 watchers. What do you guys think of buy it now? I have my reserve at 15k and buy it now at 20k. This site has done almost $13,000 in revenue since March, would you suggest I take that buy it now off or higher it? Not sure what to expect first time selling a site. This is my baby, I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on it, so I really would like to get top dollar that's fair to all parties involved.
  • See here is the trick. Do a normal post and try to get some bids rolling and when you get some bids then upgrade to featured listing and watch the bids rolling in.
  • With that kind of revenue you won't have any trouble selling it. You can always adjust your BIN, or make a BIN Bonus, like coaching for the first 3 months.

Maybe put the link to your auction in your sig file. I don't know if that's allowed, but you will get lots of eyes on it. It's your site, and your auction.

    Good luck with your auction.

  • I have a website of mine that I really love and did a hard work on it. I just had it on flippa and got 3 bids. I am wondering if I should really get it featured.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to sell it after 9 months of hard work hoping to make it a company one day but as it is getting tough lately, and really not much time to market it, I think the website is better off.

I don't have few more thousands to invest it on upgrading the design specially with high functionality and I do have other stuff that I am working on.

if the website hit over 10k I think i will let it go. wish me luck

(The website I am selling is not the one on the signature )

    • I am in the same exact place as you. I have put so much money into it, I think I reached the ending point on the time and money I want to continue putting towards it. It's been a two year project and I am wanting to move on to different things, I am thinking if I get over 10 k I will let mine go too, it deserves much more but tough times right now and I can't wait for it to continue growing. Good luck hope we both get a successful sale im at a grand right now after day one.
