Hey peeps

So I got me a camcorder to enable me to make recording to post to my blog.. I feel this will take my business up a level..

But I need some help please with these question

- So I have made a recording, now I can transfer the file to my pc. How would I have the video on my blog without the use of a video site such as youtube / viddler etc...

Thanks

Once you have the video on your pc you need a software to edit and export the video. I recommend Adobe Premiere Elements. But many others are also good and may be cheaper.

When exporting the video make sure to use a file format that is suitable for web. Examples: swf wmv mov

flv is also good, but it can't be put onto the site directly, you need to embed it into an swf then.

Once the file is exported you can embed it into your site.

It depends on the video format... for flash .flv format you need a flash video player which is the best way to go.

    Free options include

JW Players | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

Flowplayer - Flash Video Player for the Web

Then you may need a plugin to allow you to put your player in your blog without pulling your hair out...

There are a lot of different plugins out there but the best IMHO is:

    Wordpress Popup Plugin

The reason it is the best is because it will facilitate the abilty for you to use any player you want whether self hosted or from a video sharing site.

One of the features of that plugin is that you can anchor the dhtml layer making it possible to put video players of any sort and an unlimited number of them in an unlimited number of pages or posts.

I offer some specialized paid solutions like Transparent Video Player - Transparent Flash Video Player - Alpha Channel Video Player which is Wordpress Compatible and not only plays .flv but also h.264 encoded .mov and .mp4 video files as well..

If your going to put videos on your blog your going to need a flash player too.

There are many software programs that will edit and render your videos and let you use their flash players to play your videos online. They all have varying ranges in price from $75-hundreds of dollars.

At some point your going to need to edit your videos so you should get an application that has an all in one system for you so you can get your videos online and looking sharp.

Honestly I would stay away from free flash players as a newbie they will only confuse you. Video is so hot right now that there are many very user friendly application that will accomodate exactly what you need.
