Hi all,

Ive only been IM'ing for about 3 weeks and created 2 sites over a week old with about 5/6 pages/articles each.

They are indexed ok. It took about 2/3 days each site.

But they dont have to have a page rank yet. NOt even 1,203,374,043

Ive tried rank tracker on market samuri and a few free rank checkers.

I just want you to ease my mind that it can take more than a week to rank a site and it will happen eventually.

In terms of backlinks to my sites, ive only used wp syndicator to syndicate each post/page.

For one website ive ordered a backlink wheel or profile links and for the other ive ordered a small package of do follow backlinks.

Ive not sent articles or done link juicer or anything yet. I was going to wait till I have about 10 sites and try the free trials and do them at the same time.

So shall I just wait now and see what happens and work on other websites or keep going for more links?

Cheers

    Reality check time?

Do you expect brand new sites with 5-6 pages to jump over sites that have been online for months/years with hundreds/thousands of pages and lots of links?

If so, you're dreaming. Stop worrying about rank and add content and links and work on your sites. If you do it right, rank will improve.

Search engines don't see "new sites" as "something worth featuring" - they see a new site as "unproven". Ranking comes with time and effort.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.

      What Kay said.

There are, according to one stat I saw as of December 2001, more than 266 million websites and literally billions of web pages. Numbers are super-fluid and change every second.

You gotta understand that you have to consider long term building and like any brick and mortar business, you ain't gonna leap frog over established sites in your field overnight with a few measly pages. You are not an authority in your field yet, in the eyes of the search engines. WORK hard and give it time.

It's not enough to want it... you have to want it enough.

  • It can take some time to get a pagerank. You could get a trial of Brute Force EVO II and use it for all your sites. It's a five day trial for $1. After that it is $157 a month. I used it during the free trial for a site I had that wasn't even showing up in google, and it almost immediately showed up after using the software. It's an Automated SEO software. It creates emails, accounts, and does everything for you. It's pretty amazing. Plus, it solves captchas for free as well. I would get the trial, and use it for all of your sites before you have to pay the $157.

Yeah I dont want it to be on page 1.

Page 1 million would do so I know its not just in the wilderness.

But if that happens with all of them then thats fine.

I do hear stories of people getting up the ranks within a few weeks though so maybe my mind has been skewed.

Google claims to be deprecating their page rank algorithm, meaning that they do not want web designers to have access to the information, they rather you would work on 'quality'.

In practical terms it means the google page rank info sites have may never ever change or be updated. I know I've stopped worry about the google page rank, which takes a lot of adjustment because it had been a cornerstone of SEO standard practice.

      Yeah I will, thanks.

I understand it now. Just thought it was different. Ill start writing more content tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity as a newbie, how can you manually index your pages and posts.

Its just kind of done it automatically.

I know you can use something like site indexer to index backlinks you have but I dont know how to index anything on my own site

OK here is a trick for you. Create a blog and every day add in an original article that is new. Like use Blogger if you do not have any money. After a week (seven days) - yes seven. Create an article about your web site and point it at your front page. Add a word to your anchor text that is nonsense. Like for example, XINIDOOR. Mention the word three times in your article and also three times on your front page.

After another week, yes seven more. Create yet another article and point at an inside page. Remember to use in your anchor text the word that is nonsense. Typically, it will be a brand name. Like for example - KLEENUPSUPRMAX. Google should rank your site number one for both words that are nonsense.

This is because Google has a novelty algorithm that detects things that are new. Otherwise the search engine would fill up with copies of crap. This is also true of other search engines. That is why all your articles need to be original and pass copy scape. Do it now!

You've got a good start with 5/6 pages/articles, just keep going. Add quality UNIQUE content and watch it grow. Try not using article spinners if you can help it. Write your own using your own voice and style. Not only will your readers appreciate it, but Google will reward you for it as well. Adding some unique and relevant photos and videos will certainly help as well. I have to agree with Kay King, if you do it right your rank will improve. Good luck.

    Woa, hold on a minute.

SEO isn't an overnight thing. I run an SEO company here in UK as well as having my own portfolio of sites that I implement SEO on.

When I start a new for either myself or a client we give 6 WEEKS initially to start the site off and always run a project for AT LEAST 6 months to meet our ranking goals.

Sometimes it can take between 12-18 months to rank on page 1.

SEO is a complex topic and I suggest you read and learn all you can because believe me it's a long and frustrating road - but all worth it in the end.

I do hear stories of people getting up the ranks within a few weeks though so maybe my mind has been skewed.
But those stories don't say how long the sites were "up" and often are a bit misleading.

One thing we see here often is someone proclaiming "my new site is #1 on google" - and people get excited. But they don't understand google throws you onto the top of the heap when they index you....and THEN moves your site to where google thinks it should be.

New site owners draw the conclusion that something is wrong because their site was "top ranked" and "then dropped". Nope - didn't happen. It was part of the indexing process.

I second that - it's sometimes referred to as the Google Dance.

As time goes by your site will age and as long as you keep adding quality, unique content, building links and working on it you'll find that Google will start to favor you for keywords your targeting.

Just go easy, don't rush things.
