Appreciate thoughts and ideas...

on this site www.nursing-hints.com

This is the first site I ever took online (back in 2002 I think) and it's gone thru a variety of changes.

I hadn't touched it for months, but one of my goals this year is to do something with it and actually monetise it, so with that in mind, I've had a complete revamp since Xmas.

I cant make up my mind whether to add adsense or not or keep the amazon thingy in the left panel

Appreciate some pearls of wisdom

What are you trying to achieve with it?

Get people to sign up or get them to buy from Amazon?

I would only have 1 direction people can travel in - so to speak.

Give them one opportunity only - i.e. sign up - click Adsense or click Amazon.......

well...I think it is a professional looking site...is that a template ? would like to know how to set one up like that ...

as for the selling part, seems like you need to have your book for sale ..and leave the other stuff off...maybe have a blog for comments

I suppose you probably know that if a visitor from the States wants
one of the products featured in your Amazon ad, they will have to
go to Amazon.com to get it and you won't get a commission. You
can easily sign up for the amazon.com affiliate link, and maybe one
for Amazon.ca for Canada, etc. With the internet being a little global
it is too bad that Amazon isn't.

A lot of repeated Amazon ads for the same books with notes like
"Americans click here" "Canadians use this one" certainly does seem
awkward and I've never actually seen that on a site. It's just the
best I could think of when I was wondering about Amazon ads.

I suppose you must have stuck with them because you get good
results? If not Adsense might be a better bet, especially if you get
decent traffic to the site. Since the site is focused the ads will tend
to add more information and value to the reader. (imo)

good point about Amazon, I usually use that for my uk blog sites.
Hmm I think I'll take it out all together

I want to focus on ebooks etc for this site, so I guess I shouldn't distract from that.

I've set up six months worth of autoresponder articles with a soft link back to the site, I'm not going to agressively market it, Be interesting to see how it pans out lol

    Thanks for the tips

Bob I had the template designed, to be honest I'm going to kill 2 birds with one stone with this and another site I've done in XSP. Going to be promoting XSP shortly and wanted to show what could be done with it
