Seeking advice for an online langauge tutoring company

Hi everyone, firstly I'd like to thank you for checking out this thread. I've been into computers, the net, and programming for years now and recently I got into internet marketing. I'm starting 3 sites now. One of which is an online tutoring site. I was doing language tutoring and was looking to solve 3 problems:
1) finding paying clients (there is a barrier when I'm working as an individual not behind a company)
2) spending too much time traveling
3) spending my time tutoring when I can have other people tutor (passive income!)

In turn I hope to provide the people who work for me
1) clients
2) language tutoring materials so they don't have create them themselves 3) a name to tutor behind so they can transition from being unofficial almost hobby tutors to professionals.
4) marketing and the business support (website, design, payment, complaints etc)

I really think it's a win-win situation.I know it's not the most ideal business model for passive income because it requires human interaction and it's a service business. However, it's a niche I know really well and I'm very confident in it, which allows me to create great content.

I have the site up and running. Newsletter, FB, twitter, blog etc. I'm just having a hard time getting traffic, let alone paying customers. I have some articles I've submitted to directories, I've made some backlinks through posts, I've submitted the URL to several sites. I've examined competitor backlinks and tried to recreate them.

My biggest problem is just getting traffic. I dream of having the problem of trying to get "better conversions"

You can PM if you want to discuss specifics.

Thanks for your time!

    Hello Foreign Native,

It's great that you've selected a niche in which you feel comfortable. Too many marketers go jumping each time onto the next shiny thing that comes along.

I think I understand your dilemma. You need traffic, and you need it quickly.

There are two types of traffic: short term and long term. You can of course get traffic quickly by buying it. This forum has many resources on media buying. In addition, you can simply get someone over at fiverr.com to send you initial traffic from several different social networking sites.

However, I strongly suggest that you look towards developing a long term traffic strategy. While there are several different strategies that you can implement, including SEO, I would recommend list building.

You have something valuable to offer a specific niche. Set up a squeeze page with a great free offer, and direct purchased traffic to that squeeze. You'll then create a long term relationship with your list. You'll be surprised how many sales you can make once you have a genuine relationship with your list.

For more detailed info, search this forum.

    Regards,
    Brent
