Need advise to drive visits

Hi guys, I've been reading the posts for a few weeks, and finally joined tonight, but I feel like the more I read, the more confused I get.

I own an online mens jewelry business, and I'm struggling to get meaningful traffic to the site. I've had several months of SEO in the past and my rankings improved significantly in Australia, but it hasnt necessarily translated into big visits.

I'm really after some advise on what methods experienced warriors would recommend, there seems so much propoganda and what/not out there, I'd really appreciate any advise I could get.

Being such a competitive niche, I'm on quite a tight budget of course.

Thanks for reading friends.
ROF.

Welcome to the forum, you came to the right place.

I am sure you will get some really great advice to your question.

Where is your site currently ranking in search engines?

I would look for "buyer" keywords that get enough monthly searches and are not as competitive and focus your seo efforts on those.

PPC can be very expensive and paid traffic can be worthless if not targeted, the best traffic is free organic traffic from search engines.

    Best of luck to you!!!

There are lots of ways to get traffic to a web site and I don't think anyone can say one way is better than another. A lot depends on you and your business as to which is the best way to drive traffic.

Article marketing is very popular but can be time consuming unless you outsource the work.

Forum marketing (posting to forums like this one) is a good way to get traffic to your site. You need to have a link in your signature though.

Social bookmarking is widely used to build backlinks. Then of course there is the use of on-page SEO aimed at pushing your site higher in the search engines. Just about everybody has a blog for this reason too.

Pay Per Click (PPC) is great if you have the budget for it and you know how to tweak your PPC campaign. With PPC on Google, Facebook, Plenty of Fish, etc, you can target particular demographics and interests. This can provide much more targeted traffic but PPC is notorious for costing more than it brings at the start. You need to be able to test and tweak your ads to create a profitable campaign in the long run. Of course, that is probably not going to be useful to you if you don't have any budget for it.

Whatever approach you take, it can take time to build meaningful traffic to a web site. I would suggest you find some online forums that are dedicated to mens jewellery, or jewllery in general, and start making some connections in them. Personally, I think social networking is one of the best ways to promote awareness.

The decision is yours of course and these are just a few suggestions. I'm sure someone else will pitch in with even more.
