Discrepancy in niche selection methods.

I have heard many people recommend choosing something that you are interested in or know something about, when choosing a niche to promote. The pro to this method is that you should have an easier time coming up with things to sell. The con I see with this method is that people may not be buying in the niches you are knowledgeable in.

I have also heard people recommend starting in a proven money making niche or a "hot" niche. The pro to this is that you have knowledge that people are buying in this niche. The con to this technique that I see is that you will have a more difficult time producing material and choosing products.

I would like to hear some opinions on what you think is a better choice and why. Thanks.

Do not read this! Read on to understand

    My Tip To You:
Stop listening to others recommendations before you have even started. Just GO Out And Start Something. No one knows what will work for you except yourself.

Like what Clint said - just work on SOMETHING, really ANYTHING.

It's more important to understand your own workflow before you get into some kind of "system" or chasing "hot" trends.

Overall, my recommendation is to start working around something you really enjoy even if you aren't going to make money because this will give you a lot of great experience on building a community, content creation and experimenting with monetization on your site.

choosing a niche is the ultimate curse, you really have to take the advice above. Some people say choose big niches, some people say choose small niches, some people say choose something your passionate abut some say just market any old thing.

It the quality of your marketing that determines how much you will make. the problem is that people will send 50 visitors to a site and determine the niche isn't any good.

No your marketing sucks. Just pick one and get focused on your marketing. that's what will make you money not some magic niche.

A combination of both approaches usually works best:

Find out which niches or markets are hot or proven to make money and then pick the one where you can build up knowledge fast and where you have some affinity to.

I'm gonna be blunt and say that it does not matter what niche you choose. As long as you get the skills to do the research and write effective copy..YOU WILL MAKE MONEY.

Get out there and create products and a site around them. If you fail...fail fast and move on
