Next few steps for my blog

I've been following some threads here and on another forum as well and ran across a crashed challenge. So far, I have about 24 articles with some very helpful information on there. My niche is in IT and I've been and still am working in IT. I provide a lot of local IT services for my area and decided it'd be worth a try spreading some knowledge on the blog.

I went ahead and done some pretty good keyword research for each article I posted. Today, I've decided to stop writing and start analyzing more at what I'm doing. Majority of the keywords I've chosen are 3k+ local searches exact per month and low competition. Some of my content came from questions I seen asked on Yahoo Answers.

I have about 130 backlinks that I've manually inserted in some of my answers (it was necessary and relevant) for the questions on Yahoo Answers. I have an account with a lot of IT forums and some that relate. I changed my signatures and it updated majority of my posts on those sites (which is about 300-400 posts), but I can't find my signature from google if I google the forum and my signature (assuming only guests can see it).

I have a twitter account with about 130 followers and I have dlvr.it to tweet the title of each article as they become published. Besides when I tweet, I don't get much traffic. I used to get about 80 a day and I've probably made about $6 over the last month.

Can anyone suggest some good tips for finding ways to increase my traffic? I'm only monetizing with Adsense (big box for each article with text wrapped around) and I think it'd do pretty good with the right traffic.

  • Careful with Yahoo Answers. You can get banned there pretty easily if they get a hint you're promoting your site.

It sounds like you've gotten off to a good start. You want to have a lot more than 24 posts, though, to give the search engines something to chew on. My blog didn't really take off until I had 158 posts and nine months invested in it. 300-400 forum posts isn't much; you should participate more than that if you can.

Blog commenting is good for backlinks and a little traffic. And I've recently found a resource that looks promising: It's a site called BlogEngage.com. It's about helping bloggers promote their blogs and get comments. They'll syndicate your articles and get you a wider readership. Check out the forum there. People are pretty helpful.

Yahoo Answers used to give me a lot of traffic for my tech site but I was banned on 3 separate accounts because they said I was spamming which was false so I never use Yahoo anymore.

Here are some great ways to increase traffic. I hope this helps

You're right, I was suspended, lol. Although my content was relevant to the answers I was providing, they considered it spam.

As far as the forums though, I found out later that one of the forum only allowed members to see signatures, and not guests, so I'm guessing that's the reason it didn't show up on Google.

Most of my backlinks came from Yahoo Answers, and I used to get a ton of traffic from it. Seems like I'm going to have to work on something else now.

Quick question though. I've been having issues getting an answer for it. For the forums I choose when posting my signature on, is it important I make sure Google can see it? Also, is manual backlinking more of trying to spread the word or more so so Google can notice the backlinks and help with serps?

Thanks for this man. How are you doing with your blog so far? I got a big $3 from 1 click on Adsense and now I'm more than tempted to get back into it. I took a short break to study for CCENT and just looked at my adsense reports, now I'm more tempted, lol.

It is important for Google to see it but to me it is most important because you want other users to see your links and visit your site. I receive a majority of my visits through forums and blog commenting.

That blog is doing very well for Adsense earnings and Clickbank products. It is a fairly new site and I haven't had much time to update it (as you can see the last post date) but I will be getting into it again soon so that I can continue working on traffic and earnings. I have definitely noticed my earnings drop due to the lack of work on the site. I have receive clicks for that price plus higher on that website you have looked at. So if you are receiving clicks that high, your niche is definitely good but may have a lot of competition.

If you want to share your website link, I would be more than happy to look and help you out more. Good luck!
