Can Anyone Figure This Out????

For some reason my entry for today on my blog does not work on IE.

http://johnderrick.com/law-of-attrac...onscious-mind/

It works fine in firefox and Opera... but in IE 7 it only shows the image and then nothing else continues to load.

What is strange is that when I view the source inside IE 7, I can see the entire article in the source code and the rest of the page, but for some reason it does not show up in the browser.

I am at a loss on this.

Many thank you's to anyone who has any idea.

    Try removing this piece:

Something in there is stopping the rest of the html from loading.

I dunno about this - but when I was teaching some of my clients to use wordpress they would copy and paste in from Word. This could bring in some weird Word formatting (which is what this looks like to me). The best thing is to copy the text of the Word document into Notepad first and then into the Wordpress editor bit by bit as you are formatting it. That might help, I hope.

I see what you mean... all it shows for me is the title and a bunch of tags, your comments and that graphic - no article.

Sorry I can't help you. Just wanted to let you know that I'm getting the same problem.

    Allen,

Yeah, I figure that it must be something in that mess... and to be honest I don't understand that mess at all, but it was put into there by Wordpress to align the picture left and flow the text around the right.

I can try to remove it, but will that happen anytime I use the wordpress insert image? If so... not a good thing.

Thanks for looking Allen and Sylviad.

I found that inserting images was a bit of a challenge. For me, they ended up somewhere other than where I was putting them. That happened with an older version of WP. I haven't tried inserting images with my updated version so I don't know if it's consistent. So maybe it's your WP version. Perhaps update it?

If I recall, inserting images in the old version seemed to work better in the HTML window instead of the WYSIWYG editor. You might try that next time.

Well, I removed that part and re-inserted the image and none of that strange stuff reappeared and it appears to work now.

It does make me think that perhaps I/we should work in IE more often because I had no idea there was a problem because I work in Firefox and I came home tonight to find a bunch of emails from people telling me it didn't work for them. (I linked to this post in my weekly newsletter)

    So I guess lesson learned.

There is obviously a corrupted file somewhere. I am by far not an expert with WP, but I know my way around.

I would recommend reinstalling a new WP in a different folder (for testing purposes), then linking the new installation to your current database.

You will not lose any posts, comments, etc. This will fix any corrupted files, however you will have to reinstall plug-ins.

      Thanks,
      -Christian

        Good idea.

Hey, does the problem go away when you take the picture out?

Now you're getting out of my realm. I only use Wordpress on two sites and have never seen this problem. If you can get rid of it and use inline css, it would be much easier.

    i.e. "picture.jpg" style="float: left; margin: 10px"> kind of thing.

You don't need insert image for wordpress, simply add the html code in your post and you'll be OK.

Sorry for the delay in my reply here...

We are having a bit of a windstorm and I had to "batten down the hatches"

All I did to fix it was to remove the picture, and then reinsert the picture with wordpress. That seemed to fix it.

It also did not insert all that junk this time.

Good idea though Proapc... I used to write all my own HTML back in 2000-2003 eara, so I can certainly insert a graphic myself. ha ha ha Don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

Not a big fan of all the CSS stuff, but one must go with the flow to keep up to date.
