Hi, try ImnicaMail. They now open a free account for 1000 subscribers and have great tracking features. they absolutely let affiliate marketing. the only limit with free account is you can only send 6000 emails a month, which is more than enough if you're just starting out or sending newsletters once in a week.

Another one is ListWire, it's 100% free but very professional and has a good email delivery.

    cheers!

Thanks, Will try it. Do you maybe know if it has the option to import emails from another autoresponder?

It really surprises me a lot to see recommendations for Mailchimp here. I thought that very few people here used it, after so many Warriors have reported losing their lists there.

This thread, and this thread, and this thread seem to give very different impressions from the ones above: they all seem to suggest that Mailchimp should be avoided?

Also, if you do any affiliate marketing (or any of the many other things they don't like), even if you don't do it/them at Mailchimp, you can still lose your account and your list(s) there, as explained here.

If you'll excuse the observation, I'd actually strongly suggest avoiding a "free" autoresponder altogether, for all the reasons explained here.

Hi, Bross. IIRC Imnica lets you import subscribers. But not with Listwire.

To Wealthydon : I've checked Getresponse free version too but they only let you with 5 or 10 subscribers. I mean give me a break what the heck can we do with 10 subs?

The only autoresponder I'll avoid is the (free) self-hosted ones because they require a lot of techie stuffs, not to mention script error or spam complaints addressed directly to your server. That's very risky. But I've read a thread you can avoid this by using authsmtp. if you're very good at coding and understand it, go ahead with (free) self-hosted. just do a research first to avoid the bad apples....

To Alexa : I'm agree (with the Mailchimp unfriendly policy - wonder why it's highly recommended??) but also disagree with you about free autoresponder. If someone have enough money of course paid autoresponder is a must. But how about the starters who has little cash to start and want to build list asap? If there are good free ones (not just free but also good enough) available, why not using them? Free quality autoresponders are good for initial stepping stone so you can invest in a good paid ones after you have money from the baby list.

What matters most is actually not the "FREE" itself, but quality. I mean, FREE doesnt always vile. Just look at Google Keyword Tool, Facebook, Twitter, or Skype. There are free products that are craps just as well as paid products that are craps.

I think it's recommended only by those who have read neither the terms of service, nor the threads full of accounts of people who've lost their lists by using free autoresponders. :p

In my opinion (and this is the view of someone ultra-keen on list-building) they should start without a list rather than use a free autoresponder because this is a mistake with potentially horrible long-term complications and problems, as so many here have found to their great cost, and explained.

A short-term "solution" can damage the longer term. That's why I think this.

Because of the longer term problems mentioned here by so many with experience of this subject.

And what do you do with the list you've started using a free autoresponder (if you can still access it at all, or have wisely backed it up)? Throw it away? In theory, one can try to import it somewhere else. In reality, that doesn't usually work, for the reasons explained in detail in the posts linked to above. Many people here have had bad experiences trying to do that. Others in the same position can learn from them and benefit by avoiding their mistakes.

You say that what matters is "quality". But, in this context, "quality" is a vague word. The aspects of "quality" that matter here are (i) long-term security and (ii) long-term deliverability.

But hey ... we can agree to disagree about it.

I do agree that starting off free of charge with GetResponse, for up to 100 subscribers and up to 500 emails per month, is perhaps a very good way for some people to start, because GetResponse isn't intrinsically a "free autoresponder" and I understand that it has good long-term security and long-term deliverability (perhaps even second only to Aweber?), as far as anyone can predict that.

GetResponse gives you a free account up to 100 subscribers.

... you do have to do a bit of 'digging' on the website to find the offer though.

Although, please be aware that their free offer takes away your ability to create custom 'landing pages.'

  • iContact is free for the first 500 subs. You can use grabthatlead for 10,000 but no sequence is allowed..
