Where/how to promote your website?

I have recently launched a new website providing a service to customers. Its been online for over a month now yet i have had no sales at all.
Currently on page rank 3 of google for the keyword.

I need to promote the website to get some sales going, im looking for some advice in this area! Where is the best place to do this or how should i go about doing it? Maybe google adwords?

All suggestions would be appreciated, thanks alot

If you've been getting traffic and not making sales, then adwords is NOT the way to go...

    1. What niche?
    2. What keywords?
    3. What product?
Answering 1, 2 and 3 will help everyone help you...

      2. Buy google plus one
      3. Selling a variety of packages offering "+1" services for websites

If you have no experience with adwords i would keep right away from it. This is a bit of a hard question to answer because my mind is going crazy with the different ways of driving traffic. The first question you need to ask yourself is if you want free or paid advertising. This will narrow it down a little bit. I could probably write all day about this, but what i suggest you do is check out the WSO section for traffic generation techniques.

your website promotes something VERY questionable. whilst Google itself will not be holding you backbecause of this, I urge you to rethink your model. selling +1's is promotes spam and muddies the search results.

Your probably right but its a growing market for sure. Just like on fiverr, most of the top gigs are facebook likes for groups. Google plus is growing massivly and so is the number of people willing to buy +1's for their website. I am quite noob to all of this though, havnt made a dollar online yet ive probably spent $200 on things that never seem to get me anywhere.

can I ask how you plan to deliver these +1s?

since you're new maybe you should take the more tried and tested route of blogging for money instead of trying to earn it from providing questionable services. just because there is a demand, doesn't mean you should be the one to provide a supply... i suppose it's down to your personal moral stance though.

I think your keyword is not highly searched. If this is the case, you are just wasting money on promotion. better create a new website related to your product with highly searched keyword...
    just my 2 cents

The most effective marketing methods for this niche seems to be offline. Google is doing massive advertising in this arena by mailing postcards/letters. Do they know something? Check out the offline marketing forum.

Definitely check out offline. You should start locally with some businesses. Just go to some places you normally like to hang out and have a chat with the owner about your services. It takes some bravery but it will pay off with your efforts. Good luck!

First of all, Go to adwords and search for your keywords how many people are searching for it..
You can then use market samurai and Traffic travis to get golden keywords..
Go to facebook, get a nice fan page application like \

If you want to earn more, make a couple of sites like this, Boost your alexa and page rankl and sell the website on Flippa :-)
[PS: If you want a few facebook application you can contact me, I DESIGN the applications.]

There are so many ways you can promote your website. Social Networking would be a great way to build up traffic. Using classified ad websites such as craigslist is also a great way to promote your website. As long as you have good quality more and more people will find out about it.

I agree offline is one way here. In addition, see if you can put together an info pack on why they should buy this service over SEO. Also you must realize that this model is bound to come up stuck, because it attempts to defeat the whole point of the +1 service.

I think i should sell this site on flippa and then start a new project with somthing more legit and solid. thanks again everyone!!!

I dont think Google Adwords is a best option if you dont have enough expertise on PPC campaigns. What you can do is target some more keywords that have some good amount of searches per month and then rank those keywords and see the results.

      Hi,

      use these simple techniques:

      - Get active in forums and always include your URL in your signature.

      - Use online classified websites to increase exposure to your site and products. Use a service like Yahoo! Classified

      - When someone orders a product from your site, include a catalog with their order to get them coming back for more.

      - Write an email newsletter

      - Insert keywords that describe your business into the HTML META tags on your Web site pages; this will increase your visibility on search engines.

      - List your Web site address (URL) on everything; list it in phone books, brochures, direct mail pieces, business cards..etc...

      - Submit your website to web directories

      - Promote your website through email lists

      - Email coupons to your customers

      Hope that helps,

      Devid

Hi Lucas, when you said "Currently on page rank 3 of google for the keyword. ".....I"m sure you meant on page 3 of Google - I can tell you that you will not get much traffic if this is true - so work on link building to increase your ranking to page 1 and the traffic will follow.

The best way is to start building up backlinks so you can start
getting organic traffic, this will help you long term for quailty
targeted traffic, in the meantime maybe try some free ads sites
to help you get some traffic quickly.

I get most of my traffic from Twitter. My site is page rank three and two months old as well, I have to say that it's not something that Google would like if they saw it, but they probably won't punish you for it. Instead of trying Adwords, talk to me, and I'll get you ten times cheaper clicks through social promotion. I can get less than five cent clicks through outsourcing tweeting and sharing to micro job sites.

Improve your copy. There are so many spelling and grammar mistakes that you'd think a 15 year old wrote it.

Some of it doesn't even make sense, "We understand your needed, so we provide you 4 packages to select from." Sorry, what? To start with, 'you're' not 'your', and you understand that I'm needed? Needed by who? What? I'm so confused...

    Improve your copy.

1st step always needs to be analyzing your site to see where the problem is

1 - Check Google Analytics and see if you are getting any traffic

If the traffic is low, then you need to look at promotion

2 - Check that the traffic is coming from your target market (eg. if targeting the US that your traffic is not coming from India)

If the traffic is not targeted, then you need to look at your keywords

3 - Check your Google position

If you are not on the first page, then you need to check your on-page SEO and keywords

4 - Check your bounce rate

If people are immediately closing your site then they did not want to be there. Check your on-page SEO, keywords and sales page (especially the headline and 1st paragraph)

5 - Check your conversion rate

If you are getting the right traffic to your site, then the issue is that your product is not converting. This may be due to a poor sales page, confusing checkout process, or poor product selection.

Have a friend go through the process of visiting your site, reading your sales page and using the checkout to buy and obtain the product. (You can issue a refund immediately after).

That can pickup any technical issues (eg links not working) and will also get you feedback on how it can be improved

    ---------------------------------------------

The most important step to fixing a problem is to make sure you know the cause.

You should never jump into trying a solution until you are certain of where the problem is. If you jump in to paying for traffic without sorting out any issues first, you will be flushing your money down the toilet.

Depending on your niche, forum/classified ads can sometimes be more effective than AdWords and end up being much cheaper in the long run.

    Good luck

According to the google adwords keyword tool, your keyword only had 58 exact searched GLOBALLY in July. I know +1 has just launched, so this may well increase rapidly.

Your on-page copy is grammatically incorrect and confusing. If you need help with translating the site into correct English, shoot me a PM.

To promote the service, I'd consider making a gig on fiverr offering a small amount for $5, then after delivering, shoot the buyer a mail directing them to your site for bulk packages. (Be careful about your message; I've had 2 warnings from fiverr recently just for directing people to my portfolio, grrr.)

Honestly selling Google +1 is not only questionable but really risky.

I believe, one company I wouldn't risk playing with it, would certainly be google. Let us say google get back at your method, and all +1s are deleted and you using PayPal for payment, what is next ? your paypal account will get shut down.

I would advice you to be careful of such a business

If your website has been online for 3 months without any sales then it is essential for you to get into hard core online marketing. You must implement online marketing techniques like article writing, blogging, social bookmarking and maintaining a good presence on the social networking websites and forums. These techniques will surely show good results.

I would try social media marketing.
As in facebook adverts, because you can specifically target the audience you're after.
Thinks like twitter are also great.
but really, look into facebook, you want TARGETED TRAFFIC.
Not just anyone going into your site.
