Would really like to have a go at buying Internet type Franchise, but every time I make enquiries, replies are all so vague, you can never get a company to give you all of the in's and out's until you have actually coughed up.

Not sure whether I am breaking rules by mentioning names, but I like the idea of the Activ(town) Franchise: You pay for a ready made website which has a load of info about your local town. You then promote, Market and sell advertising space amongst other things on this website, and of course have to regularly update the site with fresh content. Apparently you are hepled with marketing side of things - again though, bit vague when I made enquires.

I am prepared to part with a bit of money, for only moderate monthly income to begin with and not afraid of a bit of hard work.

Interested to know if anybody has had a go at a Franchise and are their any recomendations for decent Franchises.

I see your are new here so my advice is DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this type of business offering.

You should read all of the posts here about starting an online business before handing over money to a franchisor. It is relatively easy to gain information to start your own business.

It would seem judging by the directory franchise you looked at that you need to start searching for offline business info here (the forum) and look at buying a couple of decent WSO's that tell you how to start a turnkey offline business. If you need any help I an willing to point you in the right direction.

    Regards

I would check the regulatory body about franchise's, there are a lot of dud ones that just want the money.

When you do find one, talk to other owners, ask al lthe questions about the franchiser, if your in the UK look at company's house for accounts etc.

The other posters make good points, and I'd add the following- most franchises are overpriced. Unless you are buying something like a McDonalds in the offline world, most are too expensive and never guarantee any success.

Cheers for the constructive replies folks.

Franchises do seem rather expensive initial outlay and most of them want monthly fees on top.

I shall heed all the above advice; although not sure how creating a website has anything to do with asking a question about Franchises - TeamX
