Planning on switching to Webs.com?

Hi, I currently run a site for my "business" and I am paying $9 a year for a domain and $9 a month for hosting with hostgator. You can see the problem already.

So I am looking for a switch. To sum up my current site, it's an edited template with a logo, banner, QR code, and content. Nothing special.

Space will not be an issue for me; would it be a good idea if I cancelled hostgator, switched my domain to free hosting from webs, tried it out, and then upgraded to premium?

I would like to use a template for my next site and want to use webs.

Thanks

I wouldn't go with a free host. If it's the $9/month that's bothering you there are other shared hosting providers out there for half that amount per month. Lastly, I wouldn't cancel you current hosting account until you have everything 100% all set with your new hosting account who ever you end up going with. Also make sure your nameservers have fully propagated worldwide too.

I would not go with webs. I tried them and did not like it. You can always look for some good hosting for less then $9 a month.

I believe that it is always good to find less expensive alternatives, but $9 per month and then $9 each year really isnt that much.

Unless you only plan on making a couple hundred a year of your sites I dont see as it would be a problem.

You gotta go into it with the mindset of not only making back what you put into it, but much more.

But on the other hand, no one knows your financial situation like you, so if free seems the way to go, by all means. However, if you are serious about making it, go with the paid option.

Wait, would webs allow me to keep my domain name with my domain provider and link it up to their free hosting?

And this is only temp until I get the ball rolling.

I wouldn't go with a free web host even if they PAY ME $9 per month. Too much hassles and headaches.

^ I know, it is hopefully temporary until I start have money come in.

Sadly money is a factor for me right now, still in school and sadly they don't pay you to do that.

If you're in dire need of quick money, you can try crowdsourcing sites such as Cloudcrowd (not an affiliate link). It has a Facebook app where you can work on simple tasks such as data entry, research, editing, writing, etc. They pay the very next day through Paypal. I use it every time I need some quick cash and I have nothing else to do. This month I made over $100 by editing documents.

i started with odesk.com, then when the offers started to pay low, I went to fiverr to make a quick $4.. I will look at cloudcrowd. I'm also trying to make a good income online,I just launched my first site few weeks ago, i'm still looking forward for my first sale so I can have something to pay for the bills.
