Planning is the most important thing to get success in any thing within small amount of time.

Naysayers can present a very big obstacle to your success. Whether well meaning or not, those people in your life that tell you to 'be realistic', call your idea 'stupid', or just insist 'people like us never...' can sabotage your efforts.

Avoid them as much as possible, ignore them the rest of the time.

Fear of failures is the great hindrance to success.

One of the biggest obstacles to success is lack of belief.

For example:

We fail to believe in the product we are promoting.
We fail to believe we have enough knowledge to create our own product.
We fail to believe that we can actually attract customers.
We fail to believe that we can be successful at Internet Marketing.

Sometimes just being conscious of our belief systems can inspire change.

FEAR is the biggest obstacle to success. Having the best business plan won't get you anywhere if you're afraid to implement it...

tpw- Great point. I think that this way of thinking comes from what people expecting everything on the internet to be easy. Also they expect things on the net to be free and that is always a wrong assumption. Thanks for the response.

Chris Kent- So true. Each person has there own obstacle they need to overcome. Mine was my mindset and procrastination. Some people will relate and some people will search to find their hurdle. Thanks for the reply.

WSOHelp- I think some people keep looking for the "get-rich-quick-fix" and as a result they chase after the newest shiny object. But you are absolutely right when you say that you have to believe its possible first. Then plan and take action. Thanks for responding.

I can relate to almost every post.

I think mindset is the biggest. From that, stems people's beliefs.

One of the three most important lessons I have learnt in this caper came from John Reese. I didn't get it at first, but when I did...

Have An Abundance Mindset as opposed to a Scarcity Mindset.

I've always said that my earliest obstacle that held me back was trying to perfect everything before I did anything. So basically I would say, "well I can't do this exactly how I WANT to do it yet, so I'll let it sit on the back burner!"

It wasn't until a couple of months later that I finally told myself, "If it's good enough, its good enough."

That is what I like about internet marketing, especially with websites. I can launch today, it may not be perfect, but I can launch it today and get the damn snow ball rolling. Then tomorrow I can come back and change something, or in six months I can alter my traffic generation methods because I learned something new.

With product creation, this is a bit more difficult, but is still doable--especially with many people offering "updates" on simple PDF ebooks.

Fundamentally speaking, this was holding me back more than I could ever explain to any of you. I simply didn't do anything. I wanted to take action, but my fear of it not being "perfect" was detrimental to my early success.

This is why I encourage anyone to jump right in and figure things out. Never used wordpress? I hadn't either... and now I use it for every single website. I was terrified of using it.

Don't know how to generate traffic? Search this very forum to find a free method and work it until you get it right or terribly screw it up. If you screw it up, that's fine, go back to the drawing board and do it again. And again. And Again. Until you get it right.

I didn't "get" a lot of stuff when I first started. I was terrified to build a list, I was terrified to write my first information product, I was terrified to try affiliate marketing because Adsense just seemed "easier."

God knows I've made mistakes, but if I never thought that if its "good enough, its good enough" I'd still be staring blankly at my computer screen frustrated because I couldn't get anything to work--when in reality I never tried out of the fear of my project not ending up perfectly how I wanted it!

Like BloggingPro mentioned, perfection is a success killer. The other thing that really held me back was thinking too far ahead... imagining elaborate systems when I hadn't even launched a report yet. That's probably a branch off perfectionism, but it was a very real problem for me.

... You have to pay your dues and swab the deck before you can be captain.

The other problem was looking to the outside for solutions instead of figuring out where I went wrong. It's far easier to just make a few mistakes and fix them yourself then scouring the internet for answers.

I'll tell you all a secret and it's the number one secret to my success. MINDSET. First off thank you for writing this post. See in this world of internet marketing they give you so much information that it's really hard to sift through what's good and what doesn't work. So we're creating a program that will filter EVERYTHING you know and think you know about getting traffic, placing high in google and being successful overall. I love this community but it's still populated with an abundance of information that has no value maybe put up through good intention. What we've done is... We got 200 dollars and made 2million in 8 months starting from nothing, we ran tests over and over for 2 years and we're almost ready to release this beast. I admire everyone's passion and unfortunately only 2000 of these will be sold because we don't believe in oversaturating an idea. Stay tuned folks it's going to be a very, very rewarding ride. Oh and of course since this will be fresh content we want you to remember is we want you empty handed and leave your expectations at the door. All this talk means nothing without results. I'm going to show you all how.

My biggest obstacle was distractions and information overload. As soon as I cut out the tv as well as other distractions and focused on IM solely, that's when things took off. Especially when I learned how my autoresponder works. That was something that was holding me back and I thought it would be a little too hard to understand but it was actually very easy once I submitted.

Good stuff... I suffer from Magpie syndrome - that is to say I am easily distracted by the next shiny product - oh, shiny product.
The biggest obstacle I meet - is focus. Successful Internet Marketing is to be systematic. Find what works, rinse and repeat.
Having a process step plan - and sticking to it, robotically - is the key.

I agree with this sentiment 100%.

I think clarity is a big one, being clear on what your doing and WHY your doing it helps you to find the time and energy to implement what needs to be done in order to succeed. I know that sometimes life gets away on you and you can wind up living your life to fit someone else's plan rather than creating the life you wish to live. I find taking a break sometimes so you can get clear and re-focus often helps.

The biggest obstacles I've hit on really come down too two things:

1 - Focus
2 - Planning

I tend to find myself going from one project to another because I see the next big thing coming in, this year 2011 has been all about getting back my focus and finishing off projects rather than starting new ones.

Planning is a big part of getting focused, without daily direction you'll just spin around in circles going no where and at the end of the day you'll have completed nothing and got no closer to your goals.

The one thing that keeps more people from doing what they should...and thereby achieving success is fear. More things are left undone in this world because of fear.

Fear of failure in business is quite prevalent in my estimation and this particular fear extends to other areas in addition to business endeavors.

I think the biggest obstacle is that biologically we are born with a thing called apathy.

When i first started online, I was probably the worst procrastinator.

You know, said I would always write that ebook tomorrow, or set up my autoresponder tomorrow. There we go there is that old biological human make up at work again!

But Soon as i realise I would only make money by getting off my ass, and tryed a few things instead of reading all day, and getting stuck in that 'do it tomorrow' syndrome... I started making really good money.

Then when I realised you can get affiliates to do the work for you, and make money that way easiliy, then I concentrated on that.

Eventually as you evolve as a marketer, you understand how and why you must work smarter and not harder.

But all this is a waist of time if you are not willing to take the first step. That is.....

TAKE ACTION! Do you know why marketers are willing to give you their biggest secrets...because they know, people will not get off their bum and use it.

Actions breeds results, and this is the biggest things to overcome for newbies and even advanced markters.

But as they say, ACTIONS BREED RESULTS!

For me, it's been the legendary "information overload", which, in turn, leads to inaction because you've got all this information lying around in your head, on your hard drive and on the internet that, just deciding or even knowing where to start becomes so intimidating you end up doing what I did a couple of years ago, and that is just running away from the whole IM world altogether!

But, I eventually made a decision as to the direction I should take, and now I'm back and here to stay. So, I may be repeating what others have said, but I think it bears repeating, and that is to pick one method of IM that suits you and your personality and stick with it until you succeed, and, probably most importantly, don't give up until you do succeed.

Lack of focus, lack of motivation, lack of money and lack of time. It could also be the constant drive to perfectionism, procrastination, fear or mere conflicts. All you need to do is decide what you want to achieve in life. Something that you are really passionate about and which does not go against your morals and everything shall for sure fall in place!

Targeted Traffic- Fear of failure can paralyze us from doing what needs to be done. Good point.

builder4580- That's an interesting take. Maybe for some people this is true. I think fear of failure is a bigger thing. At least for many starting out.

Tyke- Yep, I know what you mean. There is tons of info out there. Kinda puts one in shock as to where to start. I'm learning new things each day. There are so many good ideas. Some of them make me question if I should be doing "x" instead of "y". I just have to remember, "I have a plan. Stick to the plan". Oh, don't worry about repeating something. Repetition is how we learn.

seb232- You have yet to make a dime BECAUSE you are doing every program under the sun. You haven't wasted thousands of dollars if you learn from your mistake. It can either be a learning experience or you can continually throw your money at the newest product that comes out. If you want to know the proven way of making money online, here it is for free:
Find a niche. Find a topic to get good at.
Write a short report. Something with valuable info relating to your niche. 4-5 pages. Doesn't need to be fancy.
Buy a domain name and hosting. Something that makes sense for your niche.
Get an autoresponder. Aweber, GetResponse, iContact, etc.
Put up a squeeze page. Give away your report in return for an email address.
Drive targeted traffic to your site. Build a list.
Promote affiliate products to your list. Or create a product to promote and keep all the profits.
Make money! It's that simple. Now you know how it's done. Alternatively, you can find something that works great for you and makes you money and keep repeating that until you're rich. Whatever you decide to do, make a plan and stick to your plan! Don't jump around from one program to the next. Stick with one thing.

I agree mindset is the biggest showstopper for most people. It's like starting off the wrong way from the beginning - trying to grow a orange from an apple seed.
