See my traffic freefall curve like the dow and nasdaq these days. pretty gloomy outlook

pls advise how to figure out the issue that caused this.

though this site is getting poor quality traffic, (all teenagers browsing actress pics) one of my another site is also affected in the same way... any idea what might be the reason?

this would help me in fixing the issue and getting back the traffic

Thank you
Jai

I guess your site didn't pass a manual review. Maybe too many ads, maybe too little unique content.

Or maybe you got sand-boxed if your site is new.

You've got to diversity your traffic streams. And to do that, you need to create a good product, so you can have an affiliate program to get affiliate traffic, and build an email list.

What keywords were you ranking for that was getting you that traffic? Maybe try building more links to your site with those keywords as anchor text.

The OP never said anything in his original post about having fewer ranking keywords in the search engines....

Yet you answered as if that is the absolute reason why his traffic is down...

I would consider that to be "malpractice" in its purest form...

      To the OP (Original Poster):

It is possible that traffic is down because the activity which your website enables is seasonal?

If most junior high, high school and college girls go to your website, school has recently started in most jurisdictions around the country. Maybe the drop in traffic is coincidental with those girls having less computer time than before, and maybe not?

It is hard to determine how your traffic dropped, until you first understand where most of your traffic was coming from before.

If you look at your stats from previous months, look at any direct links that sent you traffic, and see if those links still exist.

If your previous stats indicate keywords that are not delivering as much traffic in Google now, as before, figure out if that is because your rankings are down, or because the information that was bringing them in isn't as attractive as it might have been before.

Unless you know how you were successful before, you will never be able to learn what has changed, to push your traffic down in such a dramatic way.

Thanks for the reply. Primary traffic is India and its through Google search and thru images to an extent. Yes ill analyse traffic data using the analytics but its so soon 3-4 days for me to get an idea, im just waiting if its a normal up down, looks like it is not, for me i think this looks like a panda update rolled out for google.co.in

One another site in same IP with good content is also suffering similar drop in traffic. Will give it some more time, may be another 2-3 days before i sit on the conclusion on the analysis. right now im pretty much getting to know from analytics where the drop is...its organic search ranking drop..

        Thank you

It could be the niche you're in. Some niches experience a decline during certain parts of the year. It could be the keywords you are targeting. It could be because of the Google Panda/Farmer's update or related updates, which they do all the time. I heard that they make something like 400 changes to the algorithm a year. If this is happening, there's most likely a problem with your content. Heck, all three things could be going on at once. It's also important to remember that traffic isn't always steady. Naturally, you will have highs and lows.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Good info here. Could it also be that panda was spread out to other countries a few days ago? I recall reading something about that.

You should also build websites with the approach that traffic will change like the wind. Hence, keep building traffic via various sources.

Have a step by step approach to at least 5 reliable sources of traffic avenues, if your serious about the life of the website.
