Steve Jobs retires will they add flash

As you have probably heard Steve Jobs is retiring and has been the key reason why iphones and ipads have not added flash.

Do you think this will now change?

Yeah, I heard about that today. I'm not sure if they'll add flash or not but definitely there's gonna be some change in the industry. Seems like Tim Cook, a new CEO, is up for quite a challenge, don't you think?

I doubt they will. I think the core values and vision of the company will remain...hopefully.

Not likely they would add flash... not until he dies.

Maybe health will be his first priority now before opposing to flash addition in their products.

Jobs is still part of the Board so I think he still have the voice in the company.

He's retiring from CEO, but will still be on the Board, so he'll still have a big say about what goes on there.

    Nice comments thank you.

I actually use an Acer tablet that has Android software and is very good, so no problem for me, but could be converted if apple products added flash.

They don't add Flash because it is dead in the water.

HTML 5 does the same thing and is the future.

flash is a dying technology and apple are a forward thinking company. so no, they won't "add flash".

Thinking that iPhone and iPad don't support Flash because Steve Jobs decreed that it would not is up there with believing in government conspiracies about aliens.

They were first to market by such a long way that the batteries they shipped it with just wouldn't support the heavy processing requirement of Flash so they told everyone that it was a dying technology. Now the processors and batteries have caught up they could do it but that would require them to go back on what they said, so it's just easier to live with the "lie".

      Andy,

It was certainly a convenient perspective to have.

And of course, its easier for Apple to keep battery consumption down if they control the approach. So, its no wonder flash got the brunt of it - as I mentioned though - Apple and Adobe are always taking pot shots at each other.

Regardless though - I don't see Flash having a future, things like video playback, animation and interaction should be part of HTML and are.

What bothers me is that I am certain Flash is dying, which ultimately means the end for Adobe Air - a potentially far more valuable implementation...

Flash can't really do much that HTML 5 and javascript can't do. Plus its kinda proprietary (although Adobe call it open). Apple and Adobe have been taking pot shots at each other for years.

Flash can't be the future for the web long term - and right now - people who want flash get non Apple products.

We're all going to live in a non flash future - I wouldn't sweat too much about how you get there - there are lots of fantastic non Apple products out there.

I am not really sure if it is that important. The way I see it Steve was a great CEO who is so ill and will be missed not only on the Apple world, but also on the business world , and doctors are expecting him to die in less than a year. I feel sorry for the guy.

The way you see it finally steve is out will i get flash in my iphone !!!
