Is DNS Traffic Worth Anything?

Okay, see name.com is offering domains which are ranked from 0 to 100. It explicitly states that a domain with a high ranking gets DNS traffic.

Does this mean anything? I mean if DNS traffic does not necessarily mean web traffic why bother put up the statistic in the first place?

Thanks

I am not sure exactly what they are talking about, unless they are talking about people who go to a website that is now dead.

When that happens, most hosting companies just put ads on the page in hopes of making some PPC revenue.

It seems like name.com is trying to sell the actual traffic instead.

If I have got this right, that traffic is extremely untargeted, and when people land on your page after having clicked to go to the website they expected to see, they quickly get confused as to why they are on your site.

Most of those folks find the quickest way out of your site, regardless of whether you have a good site or not. Your site is not what they expected to see.

      Hi dannybuntu,

I totally agree with tpw, i can just see the look on users faces when they land on your page, they'll probably be looking for the back button.

Unless it's untargeted traffic that you want to raise your Alexa rank then i would stay away.

      Good luck.
