Hidemyass.com and proxies

Can someone explain how these work or tell me where I can find the info? I have been told I need to use proxies or hidemyass.com for my marketing activities but I don't understand how it all works. Thanks for any help.

Well, it does depend on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are using Black Hat techniques you might want to consider a different approach

I would chuck out whatever has told you to go down this route. It's a bit like going down the dark side in starwars and you won't make any money - *period*. I suggest you hook up with some of the successful warriors here and go from there.

I have two face book accounts, one for personal life and the other for business. My sister and friend setup their facebook account from my internet connecting, and i have never changed the IP or hid it to do all this things.

All i need to do is log out completely and sign in again.

You can use a great service called "witopia" - don't know if it's the fastest but if you're trying to avoid getting banned off Facebook, it might be worth looking into.

But really, I wouldn't worry too much. Friends and family have signed into atleast 10 different accounts with my computer without having to be sneaky about it and nobody got banned.

So assuming you require multiple profiles in various cities/countries then hidemyass will obscure your real IP address.

So when you log in from Jimbob in New York and 2 minutes later from Marylou in London, Facebooks systems won't raise a red flag and potentially ban "your ass" for violating their TOS.

There are 3 types of proxies...

    1) Transparent proxies disclose your Internet Protocol (IP) address to the
remote Web site by using the "X-Forwarded-For" http header. Your IP address
uniquely identifies you on the Internet.

    2) Anonymous proxies do not disclose your IP address with the X-Forwarded-For
header, but they do leave "tracks" in the form of an "Http-Via" header that
could be used to trace back to your IP.

    3) High Anon proxies don't disclose your IP and don't leave tracks. These are
by far the best to use for privacy reasons.

You can check and see how good the proxy you are using is by going here.

      Dang!

YOu know a fair bit on this. Not sure people should be delving into this but.

Its not good to learn about this, or show others. They could use it for all the wrong reasons.

It's really not that big of a deal. A little googling and anyone can figure this stuff out. Most high quality proxies that will actual hide someones IP aren't free. Plus, if someone used it for doing something illegal, it's still possible to find out the actually users IP through legal channels.

Also, the free stuff that exist most sites that have issues with proxies know what the free proxies are and block them.

Most people use proxies for privacy reasons (user doesn't want his IP being saved by google for looking up porn sites, etc...), granted some may use it to get around the terms of services of some sites, setting up multiple accounts, etc...

All a proxy is, is an IP address that lets traffic pass through it which then the site that the user connects to reads the proxy IP address instead of the users real IP address. But as I wrote all are not 100% anonymous.

facebook doesn't really mind you having more than account on the same ip address. If you trying something illegal, that is a different issue ...

    And here's some info about Hidemyass, for clarification reasons;

Proxies are services hosted by someone.

Hidemyass is a company offering a number of services to its customers. Among these services are different types of proxies and most important of all VPN (with servers in 30 countries)! Using VPN you get what the proxies normally do, but encrypted! It is a paid service though.
