Youtube says "YES!"... there's hope for us all :)

10 days ago I posted this message... http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...s-youtube.html

It referred to one of my most popular videos getting canned from Youtube and my account getting suspended. The title of the video was "How to Start a Web Design Home Business", and at the time was being found in position #2 on Google for a similar search.

Understandably I was pi**** when it got flagged as spam (after 18 months of being online) and my account canned.

So I appealed using the "appeal this decision" tab and posted my 300 character response -

This morning I received this email...

Dear paulbarrs:
Thank you for submitting your video appeal to YouTube. After further review, we've determined that your video doesn't violate our Community Guidelines. Your video has been reinstated and your account is in good standing.

Sincerely,

-- The YouTube Team

There's hope for us all

Paul

I'm glad you got your account back, but a little like Paypal, with YouTube, you are guilty until proven innocent.

The onus should be the other way round just like it is in a fair court of law.

Yeah, because it's not like the court issues injunctions or arrests anyone before the verdict is rendered.

That's great. Happened to me in January, never got a response though. Had to start a new account and lost a bit of traffic but wasn't too bad.

I don't use YT to host any videos on my sites anymore though, because it took one of my VA's a week to remove all YT vids and replace with new ones. I host all my vids on my sites now.

Actually, this sounds more like the OP worked within the system and got what he wanted.

A much more reasonable response than coming here and posting a rant, like others have done.

      Weel done, Paul, and congrats...

        That's it John -

Although the system has no flexibility and there's no room for negotiation, it's good to know that 'review requests' actually get reviewed!

Paul, Did you ever pin point exactly why YouTube canned you. Did they ever explain it?
I'd love to know - as I cam across someone else who this happened to - for no obvious reason.

I was on a freelancer site recently and someone was wanting a script that would find competitors' Youtube videos (based on keyword), and automatically flag them. Lots of nasty, unethical people out there trying to mess up other people's Youtube videos.

But it looks like asking for an appeal can be worthwhile when you know you haven't done anything wrong.

Paul! Glad to hear you got your account up and working again! I wonder if they really do know why it got suspended and are just keeping it secret, as in; (some one flagged it). = )

I guess if the video makes them money then there happy!

Its good news they done this though, its sad that some of our best efforts are always sitting in the hands of the indivdual sites owners!

Its a cruel world out there sometimes.

Unfortunately, you are guilty until proven innocent in this online world. Stuff like this happens all too often.

Glad it worked out for you!!

yes, I have over 300+ videos on youtube.

It seems when you go over the 50+ mark they take you seriously and when you contact them you get replies by real people.

I know many people are getting banned from youtube, but its important to understand where they are coming from. And also important to read what you are and arent allowed to post.

Even if you do get into trouble, or happen to break a small rule, they are pretty good to deal with.

That's great to hear they spent the time to review it and take your words into consideration.

Building authority accounts definately seems like a good thing to do like celente mentioned above.

However, since they are fairly understanding, it is always worth contacting them even when you think they made an error with your account if it is a new one.

    Hey Paul,

Good to hear you got a good response from them.

I don't know why people talk like they don't give a crap about their users - they're doing the clamp-downs to get rid of the crap that some people stick up to ride on their system. If you're offering genuinely useful non-promotional stuff then why wouldn't they want to get your content back online?

Your example just goes to show that when you align your goals with theirs - everyone is happy.

    Thanks for sharing.
