Would like advice for hiring a salesperson/recruiter online

Hi all,

I'm new to the Warrior's forum, although I've been reading some of the posts and checking things out - and am looking forward to becoming a regular contributer/poster.

I've been impressed with all the great advice and information sharing that goes on in here, and so I hope that even though I'm new, some of you wouldn't mind sharing some with me too.

A little background first:

My business partner and I have been putting a project together for about 9 months now - it's an online distance learning center for writers and authors who are tired of struggling to make a living from their writing and want to learn how to build a successful and profitable writing business. We've done the beta test, and now we're ready to launch.

After talking it over, we've decided we want to hire an experienced sales person, rather than trying to set up an affiliate program, because neither of us have experience setting up or running one.

It would be commission-based at the moment, (although the commission is generous) and we have a marketing strategy in place, as well as all the training and marketing materials.

We see the advantages to working with us as:
1. Working own hours, from home office
2. Generous commissions
3. Entrepreneurial training (Free access to the entire course and all associated membership programs, step-by-step videos, downloadable manuals, marketing training, mastermind program and resources for alumni members)
4. Benefit package (after 90 days)
5. Growing company with room for advancement

Here's what I'd appreciate your input with:

We're looking for someone who's serious, motivated and who is going to get results. (Of course!)

If any of you have had experience hiring a salesperson who's not in your office, I'd really appreciate it if you'd share some information about where you advertised, what experience level or educational background you wanted, what you called the position (my partner and I keep using different terms), any ideas for the job description and what kind of response you got to your ad...

Also, I'd appreciate any info about results you got, what you wished you'd known before you started and what you'd do - or have done - differently.

Oh - and of course, if you know someone you would recommend, that would also be appreciated.

I know I'm asking for a lot of information, so don't feel like you have to answer all my questions - I'll be grateful for any tips or feedback.

Thanks so much!
