Are Getting 6 Pack Abs and Weight Loss the Same Demographic of People?

Hello,

Are the people that Google "Get Six Pack Abs" in the same demographic as say those who Google "How to Lose Weight"?

I know that getting nice abs is a byproduct of losing weight but I wonder if one is more fitting for women and one for men? I don't imagine a whole bunch of women worried about 6 pack abs yet I've heard a lot of people with lists in that market do have loads of women on them.

What say ye? Would you create a different product for each person?

If you take a look at Google Ad Planner for a site in each niche it can
    give you a good idea..

    Six Pack Abs

    Weight Loss

You can see the demographics are very similar. And as you suggested there appears to be just as many women interested in 6 pack abs as there are men.

Whether or not the women or men convert better is a different question though.

Personally, I would create two different products even if there is overlap. Someone wanting 6 pack abs might not need to lose weight - they might just want to tone. Someone wanting to lose weight might not care about 6 pack abs right now - just dropping some pounds quickly.

Yes and no. There are people interested in weight loss who have an overlapping interest in body building or fitness. For example, new mothers may want to lose their pregnancy weight while also working towards re-toning their stomach. That being said, many times those two groups are in fact looking at separate end goals. Unless you're looking at a specific niche like the one I mentioned above I think most of the time these products would appeal to two separate demographics.

And yes, many women are looking for six pack abs and flat tummies.

Sex is only a tiny bit of demographics. So just dividing between men and women is not enough.

However, six pack is more fitness oriented and slightly more health oriented then weight loss.

If you are asking because you want to launch a product, you will have to dig much, much deeper.

The demographics are closely related as the guys above stated... It depends on what kind of promotions you plan on doing, if you're going to be doing paid advertising I would just be buying traffic on your core niche, if your looking for affiliate partners then hitting into both niches is a smart move.

    Everything has it's place.

I for one can at least say that for me, they're different. I'm a pretty thin guy myself, 'underweight' if anything. I would never really google anything related to weight loss because I'm busier worrying about gaining some, however, I would google 6-pack abs because I'd both want a 6pack and want to gain some weight.

I do think that many people would definitely fit into an overlapping category where want trade in fat for abs, but surely there are other people like me out there - without a 6pack and not trying to lose any weight. If I were to use google to find info regarding fitness, it'd be to gain muscle weight/fitness.

I would say no. Weight loss niche is more general, and perhaps more female-orientated. 6 pack abs is more of a male niche, and is probably more for people interested in bodybuilding/muscle gain.

I am just saying this as somebody who is big into exercise, weightlifting etc. I would not buy a weight loss guide (losing weight is not hard, it is purely mental dedication to a physical plan) but I would buy a 6 pack abs guide, if it were well-written enough.
