14,403 Visitors Per Day

Hey Warriors,

Recently noticed a thread where one succesful Warrior managed to beat his personal target of 10,000 unique visitors per day. Which is awesome!

However, he didn't really tell you how he did it.

Which is good for motivation, but not very useful when you want to know the technique.

I actually hit this target accidentally a few months ago.

I didn't write articles or do any backlinking.

I just installed a 'script' that allows users to search for music on my website. My website would then display the most relevant youtube video and automatically embed on my website (with a search engine friendly url as you can see in the screenshot below).

I also had a little box that generated dynamic keywords on each page:

"listen to [search name] mp3 free , watch [search name] free online" etc etc

Here is a yummy screenshot:

You can see the most popular URL's in the bottom right hand side:

"dfl ipl 2011 theme song" (this was the theme song to a talk show about cricket in India... I think)

"lemonade mouth" (latest disney 'high school musical' thing. I still get a lot of traffic from this)

Moral of the story

Try and get a search engine friendly URL that contains the latest fad in your niche (obviously mine was music and television).

I earned just under $300 Adsense that month becuase I wasn't ready for that level of traffic. So learn from my mistakes.

Good luck!

    $300 from 76k hits? Automated or not, that's .0039 EPC, that's rough :-/

That's not math for EPC... That would be CTR...

EPC = Earnings Per Click (Total Clicks on Ads / Total Ad Earnings)
CTR = Click Through Rate (Total Clicks on Ads / Total Page Views)

Question is, how many total clicks were made on ads? Often you can help your CTR's by simply changing the location of your ads. It is proven that top left hand is the best location for ads. Try different ads in different locations. On a website like yours, you MIGHT benefit from visual (media) ads considering you have a "media" related website... Advertisers pay to promote videos, you might not get as much but by the sounds of it, you would benefit from having those types of advertisers on your site.

      Nonetheless, great job

      Hope this helps.

You need to better monetize that site if that's all you made.

      Yep, the EPC was terrible.

The traffic came as a surprise that I wasn't ready for, so I didn't get time to split test ad placements, promote affiliate products, or even build a list!

those stats look dodgy, you MUST have done something to promote that new search function. how would anybody find it? how did the site go from no traffic, to around a thousand, and then jump so dramatically?

at first i thought you'd paid for traffic (ppc or otherwise)

I honestly did nothing at all. You're right though, they do look dodgy!

If it wasn't for the 84% search engine traffic in the pie chart I would even assume it was PPC or otherwise.

The website was recieving about 200 visitors per day prior to the big leap, which I assume is how people found the videos to begin with and then just sent the link to their friends etc.

(the traffic shown at the very beginning was before Google Analytics was installed, the big drop towards the end was when I accidentally deleted the code)

Wonderful. By now, I hope you have monetized it.

Are you planning to sell that kind of script in the near future or so...

Congrats. I think traffic is the hardest part and if you've got that licked, it seems to me the income will be right around the corner. I envy your traffic - that's were I'm stuck.

So are you going to tell us where to get the script or are you going to be like the poster you refer to above?

Argh, you got me Patrick. Now I'm as guilty as the other guy of not sharing information.

BUT, I can tell you to an extent, where to get the script :p

I posted a job on elance.com to get the script built and set a $1000 budget.

      It was something like:

"I want a youtube video search engine with the following functionality:

      - search bar
      - list of relevant results
      - search engine friendly URL's
      - dynamic meta keywords/descriptions
      - dynamic keyword box with anchor text hyperlinks to the current page

      $1000 max budget.

Work needs to be completed with 4 weeks."

I actually got it built for around $300, but I spent $700 on modifications.

You wouldn't want the script I have now, it stopped working after the latest Youtube update. I didn't bother upgrading the script after that, I decided I had spent too much money on it already. I just changed the website into a search engine.

Google 'search engine script' if you want one.

That's actually pretty cool. Too bad you couldn't capitalize on the traffic when you had it, though.

probably you compete on tough keywords, google sometimes jump a website to the main page, to check relevancy, how long users stays on your website.

    Probably that what happened here.

If you would have locked that content you would have gotten at least $30/1k visitors on a bad day :/ . Oh well what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, now you have the ability to do it again and again.

Brutal, but can it be done with White hat SEO techniques, I have a friend who told me that he can do the same while he uses unethical means. I would like to see him do it repeatedly for the next 6 months if he is so good at it and still appear in Google search results.
