Mike, I'm a member of Brian's Law Center, but I always like to keep my options open.

That's an interesting point. I used to think that way too, that things became more of a priority as time went on, but then I realized something...

Legal and financial things have ALWAYS been of the utmost importance in business--online and off--what really changed was my PERCEPTION of their importance.

I'm not saying you're wrong, not by any stretch, but just wanted to point out an observation I had made years ago. Either way, protecting yourself legally and financially is vital to any business.

      All the best,
      Michael

Rocket Lawyer has a lot of forms covering many issues. But you have to be careful. I have (or maybe had) an affiliate arrangement with the company but then I started testing the service and immediately found forms that were illegal and void in California - but promoted for California businesses.

My complaint to Rocket Lawyer about their California forms was ignored, so I dropped them from my site.

This is not specific to Rocket Lawyer, but some of the websites that suddenly have thousands of forms available - let's just say it's sketchy about where the forms came from and whether an attorney has ever reviewed them.

On the other hand, you have no idea how profitable these mass form websites have been for my law practice. Businesses use junk forms, my office takes advantage of drafting mistakes, my clients are happy, then the business hires a real attorney to get the protection they thought they had.

That said, I'm sure Rocket Lawyer has many basic legal forms that will serve you well.

Edit: just for grins I went over to Rocket Lawyer and started a contract. For the contract I chose the "advice" as to what was needed in the contract and for it to be enforceable were 100% wrong, and the contract being created was void in California.

      Use at your own risk.
