WWW. or NO WWW. Problem

I am trying to find out why when I type in www.mysite.com my site comes up but when I type in mysite.com it does not?

Is there a way to make sure that it goes to either by typing it in either way?

Thanks and I know it may be a simple solve but I can't figure it out.

Thank you for your help.

Kevin

your DNS zone records are setup incorrectly.
Your A(host) record should be: @ points to your IP.
Your Cname record should contain your aliases.
    www points to @
    ftp points to @
    etc...

you can use your .htaccess so all urls have no www or the other way around

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
